THE latest Total Fitness centre will open in Prenton Way on the North Cheshire trading estate, Wirral, creating 150 new jobs.Demolition of former United Utilities buildings has begun and the 13th Total Fitness complex is expected to open next year.
Christopher Fox, managing director of developers Arrowcroft Northwest, said: "This is a superb gateway site. Local facilities will be greatly enhanced."
PILKINGTON of St Helens has lit the furnaces at its new French float glass plant in Lorraine near the German border and will hit full production by November.
The joint venture with German glass producer Interpane International Glas , Pilkington's first in France, has a sales capacity of 250,000 tonnes a year.
TERRENCE Charles Cummings, 56, of Wedge Avenue, Haydock, has agreed to be disqualified from holding directorships for six years in relation to his conduct as a director of Oldham-based Advanced Plant Technologies, which went into liquidation in 1999 with debts of pounds 192,101.
Mr Cummings was accused by the Trade and Industry Department of failing to explain pounds 303,452 payments to himself, his wife and codirector William John McLeod.
AN 11-week pounds 500,000 pub facelift has created 33 jobs at Bebington's Three Stags in Church Road.
The investment by Ember Inns followed a survey of pubgoers.
Manager Ray Hughes said: "It showed 86% like to escape the TV and get out of the house with their partner or meet friends.
"They like nooks and crannies, comfy chairs and sofas. So that's what we believe we have achieved."
