Be prepared to face your wedding with confidence.

A BRIDE takes centre stage on her wedding day, so her make-up needs to stay faithful all day long. This year's brides walk up the aisles radiating a natural, healthy glow.

The look is undeniably sheer, but bear in mind the camera flash can be unforgiving so you will need a fair amount of coverage to look good on film.

Follow our top tips and you are sure to look fabulous for the big day.

Indulge in a facial one week before your big day to exfoliate, replenish and rehydrate your skin. It's also a brilliant way to de-stress.

On the day, make sure your skin is cleansed, toned and moisturised. After allowing five minutes for the moisturiser to quench the skin, apply foundation or tinted moisturiser.

Always choose a foundation or tinted moisturiser which matches your skin tone and type. Check colour on the jawbone, rather than the wrist, to get a closer match.

If you have had a sleepless night due to pre-wedding nerves, cream concealer is excellent for hiding dark circles under the eyes.

If you have high colouring, especially when nervous or excited, a green concealer will tone down the associated pink complexion. It will also disguise blemishes.

Using a large brush, apply a light dusting of translucent powder to set your base and prevent too much shine.

Sweep bronzer or blusher over the face and neck for a natural, healthy glow.

Use eye shades that suit you while complementing your dress and bouquet. This is where a professional make-up artist comes into her own - she will be experienced in applying make-up suitable for photographs. A bolder approach will be needed to avoid paling into insignificance. The skill comes in not making the bride look overly made up in natural light.

If you do choose to use a professional on your special day, experiment well before the day and go through a test run to discuss colours and application well in advance of the wedding. Make sure the same person deals with you on the day. Take swatches of your wedding gown and bridesmaids' dresses with you when experimenting with different looks, to make sure they complement.

Invest in a good quality, waterproof mascara.

It will avoid the panda syndrome.

Eye drops (from the chemist) put the sparkle back into your baby blues.

Outline your lips with soft lip liner before applying lipstick to prevent 'bleeding'. Look for a long-lasting lipstick that will sustain a whole day's kissing.

On the big day, get dressed last to avoid staining your gorgeous white dress!
