A couple of weekends ago I set myself up in my backyard with my best camera, best lens and best snacks. The result is the cutest, sharpest video of the owls I've ever taken.
It features baby owl.
The first owl update I should mention is that the red owl came back for a couple of days. Formerly known as Mrs. Snacks, now known as the red owl because I have no idea if it's a mister or a misses.
I do know it produces a pretty cute fluff monster.
With terrible manners.

To clarify, that was the baby smashing its parent back down into the box -apparently having entered its teen angst years.
And yet it looks so innocent.
58 more minutes of video to go ... I'll have 1-2 minutes of video at a time for you throughout the summer.
I hope you enjoyed the video as much as I enjoyed trying out my new mosquito juice sucking tool after spending several hours outside at dusk.
Next up - a bat house.

I enjoyed your post very much. It was informative and fun to Watch.
I recently installed a screech out box after having three I believe young birds show up in one of the oak trees late Monday evening.
I’m hoping to have a resident move in this next spring time. Thanks again. I’ll be looking for your next post.

Good luck! ~ karen

Love it that you're having such fun with your owls... They're a definite hoot!! A loooong long time ago I did rehab of orphaned and injured wildlife, before there was such a thing. Raised several nests of screech owls from fluff ball to release. Amazing... had to feed them as nestlings, then teach them to hunt, capture prey (bugs and meaty things) how to tear it and eat it, and then release when time came. Sigh, miss those days... got looots of stories.
Thanks for sharing your story
Renee
Animal rehab, huh? I remember reading of a nice lady in Or. who volunteered to care for twin, orphaned black bear cubs. Overnight. That's all....overnight until they could be transported to a reserve.
She said they made SUCH a racket ....they were in a park-ranger approved pen/crate and they screeched and hollared and screamed all night. She said the funniest thing was her poor dog who spent his time looking at her reproachfully, periodically putting his paw on her and whining, obviously asking, "When are they gonna go?? THEY'RE NOT STAYING, ARE THEY?"

So cool!!!
