A couple of weekends ago I set myself up in my backyard with my best camera, best lens and best snacks. The result is the cutest, sharpest video of the owls I've ever taken.
It features baby owl.
The first owl update I should mention is that the red owl came back for a couple of days. Formerly known as Mrs. Snacks, now known as the red owl because I have no idea if it's a mister or a misses.
I do know it produces a pretty cute fluff monster.
With terrible manners.

To clarify, that was the baby smashing its parent back down into the box -apparently having entered its teen angst years.
And yet it looks so innocent.
58 more minutes of video to go ... I'll have 1-2 minutes of video at a time for you throughout the summer.
I hope you enjoyed the video as much as I enjoyed trying out my new mosquito juice sucking tool after spending several hours outside at dusk.
Next up - a bat house.

Beautiful work, Karen! Bravo!

It was Saturday…not Sunday!
I think I am loosing my marbles! 😜
Karen
Yes, I know .. haha. Saturday. Thank you again for the dahlia! (for anyone reading the comments, Dorothy Jane and I met at an event thrown by our local Dahlia society. She gifted me a Miss Teaghan dahlia.) It's planted and possibly 🤞 earwig proofed. ~ karen!

Hi Karen.
I am too am unable to find a link to your video. I remember this happening once before and I believe you did something to fix the issue. I look forward to being able to view it.
It was so nice to meet you on Sunday!

Got it! Thank you!
I’m glad I persevered trying to solve the issue. It was so worth seeing the fluff monster!

That’s exactly how my kids used to smack me down! She’s probably gone to call the authorities….

Baby owl:
"Omg! Parent! You are embarrassing me! Get down! I thought we had an agreement?! Go away! I can't be seen with YOU! Argh! That's better! Hmph!" 😆
Linnea
Ahhh, this is TOO freaking cool. Great video!
Deb from Maryland
Oh. My. Gosh. How fricken cute was that?! The look on Baby's face and the look on Red Owl's face WAS PRICELESS! You did a great job in setting up, an absolutely perfect angle. Thank you. :)
Ellen
Thanks for posting this. Video worked fine for me. Looking forward to the bats.

Hi Karen... I scrolled to the bottom of the post and couldn't find the video. I scrolled back up through... there it was.... I clicked on it and it disappeared not to be seen again. I've tried and tried and tried but no video in sight (except the ones at the bottom). I see a few other people in the comments aren't seeing it either. Any idea what might be happening and is there another way we can see it. I've been following you for years and many, many of your posts "make my day" including the owls. Looking forward to the bat video. Thanks so much for all you do to keep us entertained and informed. You tire me out. xo

Thanks Karen... I do run an Adblocker but never on your page. I refreshed it and the little fella turned up. What a cutie but he/she is a bit of a meanie. Can't wait to see the next one.

Whoa, what was that puffing up thing that Bowel did towards the end of the video? Was s/he going to sleep or was that some sort of camouflage thing? Either way, very cool. Thank you — looking forward to future installment! As for the bite sucking tool, I have one, too. I am such a mosquito-magnet that the pests come from far and away to find and bite me inside my NYC apartment. There must be a hole in a screen somewhere. I find the tool works best if you do the suction thing for longer and harder than suggested. That way you are momentarily distracted from the itchy bite by the painful welt you’ve induced. : /

Love it! Thank you so much!

A small part of me would find a reverse video of you taking the owl video interesting too. In your natural habitat. Thanks for sharing the strigine parliament.

From the owls pov? Heeheehee... Yeah... I'd probably watch that. Lol.
Kat
That was perfection Karen. Thanks so much for making my day!

You are the absolute best for capturing this moment and sharing it us!

My mouth dropped open when you reminded us that the boss of this little family was the baby - what a GREAT video! You nailed it.
Cara
This video is THE BEST. Love how still they can be. So mysterious, by nature. Thanks for posting. The close-up of the claws is amazing. Seems
like it might be getting a bit crowded in the box.
Ellen
Two photos, but no video for me?!
Maybe it didn't load...
Sher
Well, I see two owl pics but no video!

I’m allergic to mosquitoes. That “tool” was a total rip off. I felt like the biggest sucker for buying it. (See what I did there?) Can’t wait for more baby owl videos!
Nancy Solak
Mary C, I saw what you did there. :) That "baby" sure grew up FAST!
