Miltonâs Sammy Roarty garnered First Team All-Pennsylvania Heartland Athletic Conference and All-State honors to headline the all-star selections in a recent vote by the conferenceâs head coaches. Roarty, a junior midfielder and a Boston College recruit, tallied 25 goals and had 10 assists in the HAC-II this season. âYes, (Sammy) is an unbelievably talented player and an even harder worker. I am so proud that the rest of the coaches in the league see what I see from her,â said Milton head coach Rod Harris, who was also named the Division IIâs Coach of the Year. âShe is very deserving. She works very hard, stays humble, never makes it about herself with stats and expects her teammates to work just as hard to accomplish the ultimate goal.â Roarty finished with 25 goals and 10 assists this season to help lead the Black Panthers (14-2-2) into the District 4 Class 3A playoffs. âHer work ethic is what sets her apart (from other players),â according to Harris. Joining Roarty on the Division II First team were senior midfielder Amelia Gainer and senior defender Lily Batman, plus junior forward Kat Bennage. âAll three of them are well deserved (selections). They are all very hard working, determined, and competitive. They truly are very special to the unity of our team,â said Harris. âLilly is the heart of our defense and controls the entire back line, Amelia is a great leader for our team and is a solid midfielder against everyone we played, and Kat, battling some small injuries throughout the season and unable to play in the playoffs was a tremendous holding forward for us. We got her the ball and she held it until our offense could organize the attack.â The four First Team selections along with Second Team honorees (senior defender) Maddie Zeiber and (sophomore forward) Addison Wenzel helped solidify Miltonâs status as one of the better teams in all of District 4. âThose two were our other forces on the field. We had a very strong team this year with a lot of success at both the varsity and JV levels,â said Harris. Also making the Division II First Team were Warrior Run senior forward Raygan Lust, plus senior defender Addy Ohnmeiss and sophomore defender Natalie Hall, along with Lewisburg junior defender Laurel Boyer. For the Defenders, Lust was one of the leading scorers in all of District 4. She totaled 30 goals and 15 assists this past season. âRayganâs speed, footwork, and shooting/passing ability has served the team well over the last four years,â said Warrior Run coach Rob Ryder. âHer work ethic is strong and consistent, and sheâs served as a leader by example in this way.â Ohnmeiss made 73 saves (and only 24 goals allowed) this past season and had nine shutouts and a 1.251 goals against average. And despite being a defender, Hall tallied five goals and two assists for Warrior Run on the year. âAddy has put in countless hours in keeper trainings over the last four years. She helped keep us in several key games over her four years as keeper at Warrior Run. She has worked incredibly hard as our last line of defense and the start of our attack,â said Ryder. âNatalie is such a strong athlete. She handles some the leagueâs most dangerous offensive weapons. She is physical, strong, and hardworking. At this level, few players have the ability to recover on defense after being a part of the attack like she can. No matter what third of the field she is in, she is a dominant force.â Warrior Run also had several Second Team selections: junior midfielder Katie Zaktansky and sophomore mid Alexa Swartchick, plus junior defender Callie Ulmer. Zaktansky had 17 goals and seven assists this season, while Swartchick chipped in a pair of goals and nine assists. âOur team is full of talent, these three players are excellent no doubt,â said Ryder. âThey would also tell you that all the other players out there give them the confidence push forward or take risks that put our team in the top of our league.â In addition to Boyer, senior Caroline Blakeslee, junior Kate Batkowski. and junior defender Ava Satteson. Boyer had 14 goals and an assist this past season, plus Blakeslee had three goals and six assists, and Batkowski had 14 goals and three assists. In the HAC-I, Mifflinburg had a couple of Second Team honorees: senior mid Jayda Tilghman, and sophomore defender Lyla Moyer.
