Showtek is the band name of Dutch electro duo consisting of brother Sjoerd and Wouter Janssen who began their career in 2001.
The duo are mainly known for creating techno and hard style music yet include many EDM styles including progressive and house. They have been known to work with some of the most prolific and celebrated artists on the dance music circuit such as Tiesto and Angger Dimas through their 2012 project entitled Crazy Collabs. In December 2013 they founded their own label Skink Records which a sub-label of Spinnin' Records.
There were rumours in 2014 that the band would be following their 2009 album 'Analogue Players In A Digital World' with a new release, returning to hardstyle yet the duo rubbished the claims started by a rave news publisher. They did however achieve chart success in 2014 with a number of non-album singles including a collaboration with David Guetta entitled 'Bad' which charted at #22 in the UK charts and within the top ten in France and Belgium. 'Cannonball' which featured both Justin Prime and Matthew Koma managed to chart within the top 30 of the UK singles chart.
They have produced music for artists including Chris Brown and have built a solid reputation for themselves in a relatively short space of time. They have gained a large fan base who continue to sell out the duo's live shows and tours.
Read moreShowtek live is all about dance and music. At the Ultra Music Festival in Miami 2014 they brought the house down. The Dutch brothers came out and from minute one they were playing music that had people hopping, dancing, and having a good time.
Put your hands together, they said, as the audience followed suit and began to clap in rhythm. The audience united in the freedom of the dance and beats the brothers were bringing forth. It was nothing short of an audience full of lovers, brought together by music and dance and sounds of all kinds.
Showtek brought the party to Miami. When asked who was there to party hard the hands of the audience were raised up high. And then came the light show. Expertly crafted and trance-inducing. It made the whole brightly lit beach into a driving, thumping night club for an hour. It seemed like many more hours. As that hour started to end they continued their upbeat, thriving music and lights, but brought in beautiful dancers to the stage just to make it an even more pleasurable experience for all involved. You cannot go wrong with a Showtek show, they are all about the entertainment.
Showtek is the stage name of Dutch electro duo Wouter Janssen and Sjoerd Janssen who, you guessed it, just happen to be brothers. The brothers began their musical career in 2001 and have not looked back since, but have slowly been gaining in followers and upping their game to monumental proportions. The brothers mix progressive house with techno, creating a sharp edge and hard style to their sound. The brothers have worked with a number of big artists in the industry, including the one and only David Guetta, and have produced a number of great dance hits. Their shows are a funfair of heavy beats, techno filled dance numbers and big ravers. Their electro music is their biggest selling point and this is where the emphasis lies during their live shows. The brothers are able to easily entertain a large crowd and get music goers worked up into an excited frenzy. The atmosphere at their gigs is electric, with the whole crowd jumping u and down in one fluid motion to the duoâs catchiest hits.
Brothers Wouter Janssen and Sjoerd Janssen otherwise known as Showtek have experimented with a variety of sounds and genres since the beginnings of their career and having moved from a long spell creating hard style dance, their new electro house sound goes down really well with their audiences.
Having had the opportunity to play at the likes of Electric Zoo and Ultra Festival, the duo are intent on bringing a huge party along with their music and make sure the crowd remains moving throughout. They are both skilled behind the decks whilst also easily entertaining the huge crowd below with their on stage antics and enthusiasm.
You cannot help but lose yourself in the atmosphere as the whole crowd jumps as one to 'Cannonball (Earthquake)'. It is fair to say the boys have well and truly found their niche and they should not sway away from it.
Showtek was a disappointment last night. When I saw them at EDC last year I instantly became a fan. Then, I saw them at create club and was let down. I know they can do better, because they closed EDC last year and kept me dancing until my feet went numb. They just didn't bring it. What happened to the hard style??? It all started there. :(
Showtek were mind blowingly awesome, every single track was on point, the way they interacted with the audience was amazing, wanted it to go on Fridaywould definitely go to see showtek again!!
As allways Showtek has the best performance on the planet... but a little disappointing that they didn't play their classic songs, like f. The system, f. Clawn, world is mine... etc
