Biography

  • Carrie Underwood (born March 10, 1983) is an American singer, songwriter and actress from Muskogee, Oklahoma, in the United States.

Underwood’s rise to fame came after winning the fourth season of ‘American Idol’ in 2005, launching the singer into country-music stardom. After the victory and the subsequent Idols Live Tour, Underwood released her debut single “Inside Your Heaven" which immediately debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, the only country single of the decade to do so. The singer’s debut maintained much the same appeal, “Some Heart” released in 2005 sold over 300,000 copies in its first week, stayed in the chart for over two years and eventually certified platinum seven times over.

As a result the singer became highly acclaimed and received an intimidatingly-high number of coveted awards including Single Record of the Year for “Jesus, Take the Wheel” from the Academy of Country Music, a Dove Award from the Gospel Music Association and five trophies courtesy of the Billboard Music Awards among many others. Into 2007 the singer was still releasing singles from her debut album including “Wasted” and after a couple of Grammy wins the same year she issued her sophomore release “Carnival Ride” in October 2007.

“Carnival Ride” which debuted at No. 1, produced the four hit singles “So Small”, “All American Girl”, “Last Name” and “Just A Dream”. Underwood’s third studio effort “Play On” took the singer in a much more rooted songwriting position, co-writing seven on the album’s tracks including the lead single “Blown Away”. The album was released in early 2012, was produced by long-term contributor Mark Bright and featured the singles “Temporary Home” and "Undo It”.

Despite the singer’s modest show of releases, Underwood has earned a significant spread of awards including inductions into the Grand Ole Opry in 2008 and into the Oklahoma Music Hall of Fame, winning six Grammy Awards, sixteen Billboard Music Awards, 11 Academy of Country Music Awards and eight American Music Awards.

Live reviews

  • The Carrie Underwood concert was awesome. This was my fourth time seeing her and she did not disappoint! Lively entertainment with and great stage show. She sang her heart out. As Carrie matures her voice become stronger and sweeter. I look forward to seeing her again. She sang songs off her new album and mixed in oldies as well. It’s a girls tour with her opening acts all being female and then they all shared the stage and sang harmony of past female singers it gave me chills. My one complaint and it was a big one was the stage, I paid top dollar to sit close to the stage thinking that I would have a great view on the entire show. I was totally wrong in this thought. I sat on the third row and had an obstructed view most of the time when Carrie was standing in the middle of the center stage or on the opposite side. At times could only she the top of her head or nothing at all. This was a huge disappointment since I’ve NEVER paid this much for a concert ticket!! They tried to make allowances for this fact by having risers on the stage which place Carrie and the band members up high but still wasn’t enough. I felt even worse for those on the floor who could only watch and see her when she was directly standing in front of them!! The stage was too high for the stadium seats that were around the edges. First 4 rows had this issue and as I said I paid top dollar not realizing that this would be an obstructed view. This should have been stated when I purchased my ticket. People sitting around me was verbalizing their disappointment as well, especially the people in the first two rows. Over all the concert would have been a wonderful experience if not for my crappy expensive seat. I was crying ugly in section 114 row c seat 14.

  • Carrie Underwood.... whats more to say then she is perfect! Seeing Carrie Underwood in concert was absolutely the best expierence of my entire life. Being able to see someone who has completely influenced you to be who you are and live life, this was by far the best thing to ever happen to me. Not only is she the most gorgoeous individual I have ever seen, but she has the most outstanding voice ever! She has such a variety of different types of music. She will go from a rock song to a slow song and still sound absolutely amazing! She is a down-to-earth woman and there's no other star I would rather see than her. Y'all will love her concert and have such a great time! Her music is so inspirational to people all over the world in so many ways. Over her years of being a country star, she has taught me to just be me, to always move forward; through a breakup, through hard times in my life or... anything! She has shown me what life really is and I hope that one day, I will be able to meet her. Nothing would make me happier. So if you want to have a good time, then I sugest you go to her next concert in your hometown! Even if you dont like country, She will definately change your mind in an instant!

  • Carrie Underwood is that quintessential, all American girl next door. She is undeniably lovable and the crowd sure as hell loves her. Singer, songwriter and actress, Underwood is incredibly talented and a skilled musician to boot. Since winning American Idol back in 2005, Underwood had made quite the name for herself in the Country music scene. Underwood displayed an incredible versatility on stage, moving from slow ballads to more upbeat, rockier songs in the blink of an eye. Besides her musical skills, Underwood proved herself to be an incredibly down to earth, humble performer. She thanked the crowd constantly, and seemed genuinely thrilled to be on stage. Her happy and positive attitude moved the audience and was highly infectious, creating a great atmosphere throughout. Underwood’s live band was great and the stage shone with Underwood’s light. She sang a whole array of hits, from old songs such as ‘So Small’ and ‘All American Girl’ to new singles ‘Blown Away’ and ‘Something in the Water’. Underwood even surprised the crowd with an impromptu costume change for fairy-tale track ‘Ever Ever After’.

  • Country music sensation Carrie Underwood is an elusive visitor to the shores of the United Kingdom so when her loyal fan base has the opportunity to catch the chanteuse live they appear in their thousands. Rising to fame way back when she won the fourth season of American Idol, the singer has been releasing material ever since with her enchanting vocal.

Only her latest album 'Blown Away' made it onto the UK charts yet her dedicated fan base sings along to old singles such as 'So Small' and 'All-American Girl'. Carrie develops a rapport with her crowd from the offset, telling them stories behind the meaning of tracks and why they had been chosen for the setlist that evening. A special airing of 'Leave Love Alone' received huge applause from the baying masses.

Her live band supports Carrie profusely, whether it be with enthusiastic vigour during 'Jesus, Take The Wheel' or subtly playing as accompaniment on 'Flat On The Floor' as the songstress allows her vocal to shine. She may be elusive, but Carrie Underwood performs a show that is sure to delight her fans enough to wait until the next time.

  • Carrie had such a great show last night. I, as was the rest of the audience very impressed. Her vocals were insanely strong, and she put on a great show that was entertaining.

The slide show with her son was very touching, and sweet. It was super cool to be able to see a little about her personal life and how it impacts her influence into her music.

I sat fairly close to one section of the stage, but not too close to the middle. Her vocals were so strong and she really sang beautifully that you could hear her clear from any part of the room.

I STRONGLY suggest that you go see her, if your able. She puts on a great show. As always LOVE YOU CARRIE! THE STORYTELLER MIGHT JUST BE YOUR BEST ALBUM YET! & your best tour!!

I don't know how she managed to do It but she topped the last time she performed here!

  • Carrie is a phenomenal artist. Her show spanned two + hours and consisted of her most well-known songs and a few of the songs off her new album. She had six outfit changes and an awesome light show! The atmosphere was engaging, fun and electrifying. Carrie took a time out to perform a song about her "boys," where the camera didn't show her face once, but the audience instead saw picture after picture of her husband and her son. She maintained a perfect balance of being intimate with her audience while still performing the heck out of her crazy vocals!

  • Awesome performance.. Love it. Would definitly go back. Only problem is with standing up on the floor GA section. Should really think about having chairs on the floor GA section because peoples would come last and try to sneak in the front which is not fair for those of us that came early and some peoples were tired and was sitting on the floor.
