Diagramism

movement as a philosophy of
approaching concept design

A Research Proposal for a Master Thesis to be Submitted in Partial Fulfillment of the

Requirements for the Degree of Master of Science in Architectural Engineering

By : Mahmoud Mohamed Esam

Introduction

The diagram is the preferred

method
for
researching,
communicating,
theorizing
and
pursuing architectural designs.

The thesis investigates the Diagramism movement from socio-cultural studies,

science, philosophy, technology, CAD/CAM, computing and virtual/digital design point
of view & How to use this movement to create purposeful designs During
contemporary architecture .

Research Problem
1- The Title of Research

The
overarching
purpose
of
any
architectural Diagram is to act as a visual
language - a medium between thoughts
and reality.
The thesis aims to complement existing
discourse on architectural diagrams so
that a general understanding can be
approached
through
critique
and
comparison for approaching the concept
design.
