The teacher will introduce the game “Navigate then Act Me Out”. The class

representatives. Duck Race Randomizer will be used to choose the first
group to play. Each group will be given one and a half minute each to play
the game where they need to create air using a chip board to make the
paper boat move to the finish line for the player to open the rolled paper
inside the paper boat then make a sentence using the verb that is written
on that paper. The group with the most number of correct sentence to
form will be considered as winners.
2. Activity Proper
The teacher will show a 3-5 minutes video of FPJs Ang Probinsyano clip
([Link] and the students
will be tasked to list down all the verbs from the video. Then they will be
tasked to use it in a sentence.
B. Analysis
The teacher will ask the students the following questions:
1. How did you find the activity?
2. What part of the activity did you find enjoyable?
3. What have you learned from the activity?
4. Based on the activity, what do you expect to learn today?
C. Abstraction
(The teacher introduces the five types of verbs, which are the action verb,
linking verb, helping verb, transitive verb, and intransitive verb.)
A verb is part of speech that in syntax generally conveys an action (bring,
read, walk, run, learn), an occurrence (happen, become), or a state of
being (be, exist, stand). In the usual description of English, the basic form,
with or without the particle to, is the infinitive. In many languages, verbs
are inflected (modified in form) to encode tense, aspect, mood, and voice.
A verb may also agree with the person, gender or number of some of its
arguments, such as its subject, or object.
5 Types of Verbs
1. Action Verbs
Action verbs express physical or mental actions, such as “run,” “jump,”
“think,” “read” and “write.” They describe actions or activities and
typically involve physical movement or mental effort.
Example:
“She is writing a novel” showcases the action verb “writing”.
2. Linking Verbs
Linking verbs connect subjects to additional information, like “be,”
“seem,” “appear,” “become” and “remain.” They link subjects to
predicates or descriptions, describing states of being or conditions.
Example:
“He appears happy.”
3. Helping verbs (Auxiliary Verbs)
Helping verbs, or auxiliary verbs, assist main verbs, indicating tense,
mood or possibility. Examples include “will,” “would,” “shall,” “can” and
“could.” They form verb phrases and express modality or tense.
Example:
“She will attend the meeting.”
4. Transitive verbs
Transitive verbs take direct objects, like “eat,” “write,” “paint,” “buy” and
“sell.” They act upon direct objects, requiring one to complete the
sentence.
Example:
“He reads books.”
5. Intransitive verbs
Intransitive verbs don’t take direct objects, such as “sleep,” “laugh,” “cry,”
“walk” and “run.” They express actions without direct objects.
Example:
“She smiles.”
The teacher will ask the following:
Generalization: How do you differentiate action, linking, helping,
transitive, and intransitive verbs?
Integration: In what other learning areas you can learn about
types of verbs?
Value Focus: What value should you observe in order to avoid
discriminating people through actions? How can we show
appreciation to other people?
D. Application: (Individual)
Activity 1. Drafting my Christmas Plans
Direction: In a ¼ sheet of paper, make a draft of your plans this
Christmas vacation using the different types of verbs.
Activity 2. Verbo Party
Direction: The game is played like regular Bingo, but instead of
numbers, verbs will be used. When a verb is called out, players must
find and mark that verb on their card. The goal is to mark five verbs in
a row (horizontally, vertically, or diagonally). The first player to mark
five verbs in a row and shout "Verbo!" wins the game.
