I. OBJECTIVES
A. Content Standard The learner demonstrates understanding of: contemporary Philippine

appropriate and polite oral language, stance, and behaviour; and use
of imperatives, prepositions, verbs, and wh-questions.
B. Performance Standard The learner transfers learning by: explaining the need to be
cooperative and responsible in today’s global village; using
appropriate strategies to comprehend extended text types; using
lexical and contextual clues to understand unfamiliar words and
expressions; using imperatives, prepositions, and appropriate and
polite oral language, stance and behaviour in various information-
sharing formats.

 WHAT

- Used if you want information about a thing.


Examples: What is your name? (My name is Tyron.)
What are you doing? (I’m dancing.)

 WHERE

- Used if you want information about a place.


Examples: Where do you live? ( I live in Tala, Caloocan City.)
Where are you? (I’m in the bathroom)

 WHO

- Used if you want information about a person.


Examples: Who are your parents? (My parents are Marian and Tony.)
Who is your best friend? (My best friend is Gimma.)

 WHEN

- Used if you want information about the time something


happens.
Examples: When is you birthday? (My birthday is on October 10,
2008.)
When do we have English class? (Later after recess.)

 WHY

- Used when you want to know the reason for something.


Examples: Why did you transfer? (Because of my personal reasons.)
Why do you want to be a dancer? (Because that is my
passion.)
 HOW

- Used if you want to know the way in which something is


done or if you want to know the quality/quantity of something.
Examples: How old are you? (11 years old.)
How are you? (I’m great!)

H. Making In communicating with others, we tend to ask question when we


generalization and want to know something about them. In formulating a question, we
abstraction about use WH-Questions. It is not answerable by yes or no. But used
the lesson together to gather information. We have WHAT for knowing certain
information about something, WHERE for knowing the place of
something, WHO for knowing the identity of something, WHEN for
knowing the time, WHY for knowing the reason of something, and
HOW for knowing the way in which is done or quantity/quality od
something.
