"After just 5 days as a pre-service teacher, I've
noticed significant changes in my discipline and
attitude. I've learned to manage my time effectively and
admire the dedication of teachers in imparting
knowledge. In the picture below, my students are engaged
in an activity on writing proofs, part of my lessons on
logical reasoning. I've successfully related it to real-
life scenarios, which my students have enthusiastically
embraced. Despite initial uncertainties, I feel
accomplished and happy to have survived these 5 days.

MY WEEKLY
LIFE 'S NOT A RACE .
MY JOURNAL FE BRUARY 26 - 01 MARCH
FEBRUARY 26- MARCH 1
Being a student teacher is like taking a big step from being a learner to a
teacher. It's a time when you get to try out what you've learned in real
classrooms. You plan lessons, work with students, and learn how to make learning
fun and engaging. It's all about growing, working with others, and figuring out
what works best to help students learn. Being a student teacher is like a journey
where you discover how to be a great teacher, making a positive impact on the
lives of students. IIt's only my second week as a student teacher, and I'm
realizing just how challenging it can be – it's almost like being a full-fledged
teacher already! Despite the difficulties, I'm grateful to still be pursuing my
dream of becoming an educator. This week, Ma'am Balabag asked me to submit my
lesson plan for approval, so I spent the weekend diligently working on it, pouring
my heart into crafting a lesson on mathematical systems.
On Monday, February 26th, I eagerly asked Ma'am Balabag to review my lesson plan,
and thankfully, she gave it the green light. As the clock struck 8 am, I dove into
my first period with Section Gomez, followed by Section Bonifacio. The discussions
were engaging but time flew by, and unfortunately, I couldn't cover everything I
had planned. Ma'am Balabag reassured me that it was okay since the lesson was
designed to span 2-3 days. She also provided valuable feedback on areas for
improvement, particularly in time management, effective communication, and
engaging with the students.
Then, on Friday, March 1st, our school mandated all teachers and student teachers
from Sablayan-Agnipa to attend the SLAC session. Led by Ma'am Balabag, the session
introduced a new teaching style focusing on the SOLO Taxonomy and HOTS (Higher-
Order Thinking Skills). It was an enlightening seminar that lasted from 1 pm to 5
pm, providing me with fresh insights and strategies to enhance my teaching
approach.

During my third week as a student teacher, I found myself immersed in a
continuous cycle of learning and growth. As each hour, day, and week passed, I
accumulated more knowledge and experience. Concepts that once seemed
insurmountable gradually became clearer, and I found myself not only
understanding them but also effectively conveying them to my students. It was
intriguing to realize that the subjects I struggled with in the past were now
within my grasp, and I could empathize with my students' challenges while also
appreciating their efforts to learn.
This week, I decided to assess my students' understanding by preparing a
comprehensive quiz based on our previous lessons. However, despite my efforts, I
encountered mixed results. While some students excelled, others faltered, perhaps
due to insufficient review of the material. Nonetheless, I witnessed progress overall,
with the majority of students demonstrating a satisfactory level of understanding.
One crucial aspect of my role as a student teacher that I delved into this week
was advisory responsibilities. I learned from my cooperating teacher about the
importance of managing the areas assigned to my students for cleaning each
morning and afternoon. Taking charge of this task, I guided my students in
fulfilling their duties diligently, whether it was tidying the classroom, watering
plants, or cleaning pathways. It was gratifying to observe their sense of
responsibility and cooperation in maintaining a clean environment.
On Thursday, the school organized its monthly first-day mass, a tradition that
brought together students, teachers, and staff in a moment of reflection and unity.
Alongside my fellow student teachers, I participated in this solemn occasion,
fostering a sense of community within the school.
As the week drew to a close, Friday offered a chance for relaxation and bonding
with my advisory class, the grade 10 section Aristotle. Every Friday, we
engaged in activities and games that I had prepared, providing a refreshing break
from academic pursuits. We also enjoyed watching movies together, strengthening
our rapport and creating memorable experiences outside the classroom.
Reflecting on this week, I am reminded of the dynamic nature of
teaching and the continuous learning journey it entails. Each
experience, whether in lesson planning, classroom management, or
student interaction, contributes to my growth as an educator. I look
forward to the weeks ahead, embracing challenges and opportunities for
further development.

Weekly Journal: Week 5 (March 18-22)
Monday: March 18
Today, my cooperating teacher asked me about my Table of
Specifications (TOS) for the upcoming quarterly exam. It was a bit nerve-
wracking as it was my first time creating one. Analyzing and distributing
questions to their appropriate levels was challenging for me. However, I
received valuable assistance from my previous advisor, Ma'am Dovie, which
eased my worries. With her help, I managed to prepare the TOS, and my
cooperating teacher checked it. So far, everything seems to be in order.
Thursday: March 20
With the quarterly exam approaching in two days, my cooperating
teacher instructed me to conduct a thorough review of our lessons. We
dedicated two days to review sessions, and I have a good feeling about the
preparedness of our students. The effort and dedication put into the
review sessions seem promising.
Thursday: March 22 (Examination Day)
Today marked the day of the quarterly examination. My cooperating
teacher and I collaborated to distribute test papers to each advisor of
grades 8 and 10. We decided to utilize ZipGrade for test scoring due to its
efficiency and convenience. The examination commenced promptly at 8 am,
with each subject allotted a duration of one hour. I volunteered to proctor
the grade 10 class, which is the advisory class of my cooperating teacher.
My subject, mathematics, was scheduled from 1 pm to 2 pm. After the
examination, I began the task of grading the papers of my students. It was
a meticulous process, but one that is crucial for accurately assessing their
understanding and progress.
This week was intense yet rewarding. Preparing for and conducting the
quarterly exam provided me with valuable insights into the teaching-
learning process. Collaborating with my cooperating teacher and utilizing
tools like the Table of Specifications and ZipGrade enhanced my skills and
confidence as an educator. Moving forward, I aim to continue learning and
refining my teaching practices to better support my students' academic
growth.

WEEKLY JOURNAL
April 1-5 2024
In Week 6, spanning April 1st to April 5th, I enjoyed a long weekend due to the observance of
Holy Week, providing a much-needed break from schoolwork and papers. With THE final
examinations from the previous week completed, my focus shifted TOWARD computing grades.
I had instructed my students to submit their group project on creating a triangle figure by
Monday, which served as our agreed-upon deadline. Witnessing the creativity and talent
displayed in the works submitted by my students was truly inspiring.
During the grading process, I noticed that some students were missing written assignments. To
address this, I compiled a list of these students and allowed them the opportunity to make up
what they had missed. Responding to a request from my cooperating teacher, I prioritized
completing the grading before Tuesday.
Additionally, this week featured career guidance sessions for both Grade 10 and Grade 12
students. I assisted a fellow teacher in decorating the stage for these events. Anticipating the
upcoming final demonstration, I diligently prepared my lesson plans in advance for review by
my cooperating teacher.
On Thursday, April 4th, we finalized the schedule for the order of demonstrations, and I was
fortunate to secure the second slot. Finally, on Friday, despite the absence of regular classes due
to Cath Friday, homeroom activities proceeded with the assistance of my cooperating teacher.
Throughout the week, I endeavored to enhance the construction of my sentences for greater
clarity and coherence.t

WEEKLY JOURNAL
April 8-12 2024
This week has been a whirlwind with all the preparations for my final
demonstration. Despite the unexpected break from classes until Wednesday due
to a memo from DepED, there's still a lot to be done. With the help of my
partner, I spent the weekend creating visual aids and activities related to
probability, my chosen topic. However, the lack of time to meet with my students
to brief them on my lesson was a challenge, compounded by the uncertainty of
knowing who our actual students would be during the demonstrations.
Making the most of the free day on Monday, I focused on practicing and
memorizing my discussion to ensure a smooth execution. Then, on Wednesday,
our schedule got shifted to Monday and Tuesday (April 15 and 16) by Ma'am
Melano due to ongoing preparations.
Finally, on Thursday, I managed to meet with my students to give them an
overview of my lesson and even had the chance to run through it with other
sections. On Friday, my cooperating teacher and I had a productive discussion,
where she provided valuable insights and suggested removing some time-
consuming activities to ensure a better execution on Monday.
Overall, my aim is to deliver a polished demonstration come Monday, and I'm
grateful for the support and advice I've received along the way.

This week has been the most special one for me as a student
teacher. All the advice and learning have prepared me for this
momentous event, and I prayed earnestly for its success.
Finally, on April 15, 2024, came the demonstration day, and
I can't help but feel an overwhelming sense of pride in myself
as I reflect on a job well done. After enduring countless hours
of practice, tears, and sleepless nights, the fruits of my labor
have manifested into success, and for that, I am immensely
grateful.
Following the demonstration, I found myself yearning for
the simple pleasure of sleeping on time without a barrage of
thoughts crowding my mind. On Tuesday, as some of my
fellow student teachers also showcased their final
demonstrations, I couldn't help but share in their joy and sense
of accomplishment.
On the same day, I carefully gathered all my visual aids and
brought them back home, feeling a swell of pride in the
materials that had aided me throughout my journey.
Then, on Wednesday and Thursday, Ma'am Melano announced
that there would be no classes, offering a much-needed break to
recharge and reflect on our achievements.
Finally, on Friday, we participated in the SLAC session for
the third time, focusing on the traditional folk dances of our fellow
Romblomanons, the Agogocoy and Virginia. The entire day was
dedicated to practicing and performing these dances, further
enriching our cultural understanding and appreciation.
