Question 1
Read the following speech. Identify where each of the techniques listed in the table
below have been used and briefly explain the effect of using the technique in the
speech. One example has been done for you:
Ladies and gentlemen,
Today, we stand on the face of change, united in our shared mission to make a
difference. But before us lies a crucial question: Will we continue to ignore the
staggering statistics that reveal the dire state of our planet, or will we rise to the
occasion and take action? Can we afford to sit idly by as our environment suffers under
the weight of pollution and degradation? The answer is clear: No. We cannot.
It's time for us to come together, to stand as one in the face of adversity. Let's commit
ourselves to a future where sustainability reigns supreme, where every action we take
is a step towards a cleaner, greener world.
We must act now, for the sake of our children, our grandchildren, and all generations
to come. It's not enough to simply hope for change – we must be the change.

So, let's stand tall, shoulder to shoulder, and declare with one voice: We will protect
our planet. We will preserve its beauty. We will secure its future.
Together, we can make a difference. Together, we can change the world.
Thank you.
