a. distinguish complete subject from complete predicate
b. identify complete subjects and predicates in sentences; and
c. construct sentences using complete subject and predicate

1. Motivation
Before we start with our
lesson for today, let us have
first an activity for you to
have an idea on what we
will be going to learn this
morning.

I will divide the class into
two and each group are
given two boxes containing
pieces of papers with
phrases which you are going
to connect (note: 1 piece of
paper from box 1 will be
connected from another 1
piece of paper from box 2).
You are given 5 minutes to
connect and make
sentences as many as you
can. Did you understand
class? (students will do the activity
for 5 minutes)
So, are you ready? Timer
starts now!

with meaningful sentences?
Excellent! In this activity,
the series of sentences that
you made consists of two
parts. It is the subject and
the predicate.

subject and predicate as we

3. Discussion
In our discussion last
meeting, we tackled on
subject and predicate. But
to be specific, what we have
discussed are examples of
simple subjects and simple
predicate.
Simple subjects and simple
predicates are those without
modifiers or qualifiers.
But if a subject has words
related to it, as well as
modifiers or qualifiers, then
it is a COMPLETE
SUBJECT. Same is true as
predicates; there is also a
COMPLETE PREDICATE.
Let us take a look on the
examples given on page 43
in your book and let us
identify its simple and
complete subjects and (The student will read the
