RISK MANAGEMENT
07 GROUP EXERCISE 1
School Area : Stairs
Hazard Identification :
• Slippery steps
• Missing or Damaged handrails
• Trips
• Falling down
Risk Identification :
Due of the stairway's slickness and broken or missing steps, accidents involving trips or falls are
more prone to happen. People may be more likely to lose their balance and fall if steps are loose,
missing, or slippery. Serious injuries, including broken bones, soft tissue damage, and spinal cord
injuries, can be caused by these kinds of accidents. In addition, the person may experience mental
trauma as a result of the incident.
Risk Analysis (probability) :
These likely to happen when the stairs are not properly constructed and the wet stairs are not
cleaned or wiped because they are the most cause of accidents. Besides, sometimes the tiles are
not evenly placed, there is a possibility of causing a risk.
Risk Analysis (consequence) :
many people use different types of stairs. We all know that many people are injured just going down
the the stairs, because stairs are inherently dangerous. Where many people have fallen and suffered to
those injuries they experience. The worst scenario is that some people lost their lives because they
fall in the stairs. There are many types of injured that can be occurred and that is the lower body
injuries, or head and neck injuries. Where the neck and head injuries are the most dangerous of all
since, this can be cause a lot of injury. Since, our head are soft where it easy to have fractured where
can cause bleeding. And because injuries can occur when we fall or have an accident on the stairs, it
will have an effect on the school by impeding on learning.
Risk Controls :
Use handrails to stabilize yourself as missing a step when descending a stairway can cause a fall,
resulting in serious injury. Take your time when going up or down stairs. Carrying bulky loads on
stairs is risky, so take multiple, smaller trips.
School Area : Hallways
Hazard Identification :
• Slippery surfaces
• Trips
• Falls
• Wet floors
• Changes in floor heights, unidentified steps.
Risk Identification :
Accidents that tend to happen in hallways are that people can slip and fall on wet hallway floors. Any
kind of liquid on the floor can lead to major damage if not wiped up immediately. However, some
people only suffer minor injuries from slipping, such as bruises or hip pain, while others suffer more
severe injuries, such as constant pain in various parts of their body and even the need for surgery.
Risk Analysis (probability) :
Usually there is a risk or accident is that leaving wet on the hallway, then not wiping it, there is a
possibility that there will be a risk in that area. Besides, piled up steel items can also cause accidents.
Risk Analysis (consequence) :
The impact/consequence on it in the school is that there is a risk of injury from things like wet floors,
disorganized hallways, and other things that can detract from its beauty and generate an unattractive
impact, with the results that the environment is more unsightly and unsafe for us.
Risk Controls :
How can these risks be prevented? bychanging or modifying walking surfaces is the next level of
preventing slip and trips. Recoating or replacing floors, installing mats, pressure-sensitive abrasive
strips or abrasive-filled paint-on coating and metal or synthetic decking can further improve safety
and reduce risk of falling or slippering.
