MINSAN LANG SILA BATA
The issue of child labor in the Philippine provinces was the subject of the 1996
documentary titled "Minsan Lang Sila Bata," which was directed by Ditsi Carolino. It focuses on
young children who were forced to labor to help support their families by doing things like
slaughtering animals, working in sugarcane fields, and working in ship ports. The film focuses
on the unjustified work that is done by the impoverished youngsters in our country. Tikboy and
Dio from Cebu, Belena, Cito and Richie from Ormoc, and Muklo, Liting, Bobbi and Anding from
Dapitan are all young children from different regions who are showing me how poor the
Philippines is and why there is child labor there. Our nation is facing a number of societal
problems, all of which need to be confronted, discussed, and ultimately remedied. "Kapag
namulat mo na ang mga mata mo sa katotohanan, kasalanan na ang pumikit", as they say, I
understood that we needed to take action; these concerns are needed to be handled.
Following my viewing of the documentary, I found myself profoundly affected by the
gloomy reality that was depicted in the film. It addresses not only the problem of child labor, but
also various other problems that are pervasive and frightening in our nation as a whole. The
children's enthusiasm for learning left quite an impression on me. They wanted to go back to
school more than anything. If given the opportunity, they would choose to go to school rather
than work, but due to financial constraints, kids are forced to work instead of play. These kids
were forced to deal with the harsh realities of poverty, which prevented them from attending
school when they should have. putting in effort to clear the financial obligations of their family
How on earth could such a small youngster get into so much debt that they had to make
payments? I am deeply affected by these children's motivation, which exemplifies the
importance of giving without expecting anything in return. They start working for their family at a
very young age and make an effort to comprehend their difficult financial circumstances. This
documentary has served as a wake-up call for me to put in significant effort in order to advance
to the next level of my education. If God allows it, I will extend assistance to the most helpless
members of our community. It is my sincere desire that, in the not too distant future, the steps
made by the administration will ensure that not a single child will be neglected, and that no
youngster will be forced to labor. Every child should have the chance for a better life and the
chance to receive an education of the highest possible caliber. Let us allow our young people to
live freely because "Minsan Lang Sila Bata."
