Activity 3: Mock Interview

1. If your colleagues had an opportunity to tell us your primary strength what would that be?
Your primary weakness- what would that be?

If my colleagues will have an opportunity to narrate about my primary strength, that would be
about my ability to work under pressure. Working with pressure has been with me since I am a
student. It is inevitable due to the compressed amount of work with a tight deadline and even in
a specific task that necessitates for sudden changes. Although given that pressure in academic
settings greatly differ from actual occupational workplace, I believe that I still have the ability to
compose myself, function with stress, and deliver the work efficiently and with quality. Admitting
that pressure is present in my current situation and that I can’t do anything about it but to set my
mind that it could help me for my personal growth as an individual are some of my personal way
of coping with pressure while working. On the other hand, for my primary weakness, I think that
would be indecisiveness. There are times that I find it so hard to come up with a decision
especially if that decision is not only for myself. It is not because I am afraid of taking risks but
because I fear failure particularly when others’ sake is also taken into consideration.

2. What do you do when others resist or reject your ideas or action?

When others resist or reject my ideas or action, I would humbly ask for their opinion on the
reason as feedbacks why my ideas were resisted or rejected in order for it to serve as my
guidelines for the other succeeding tasks. If their sentiments are reasonable, I would gladly take
some time to reflect on my work and eventually gain acceptance because after all, rejection is
still rejection. It might make me feel disappointed but I will make sure that it would only last for a
short period of time. And, I would not let that rejection to be a hindrance of my growth; instead, I
will take rejection as something like another opportunity for me to be better on the upcoming
works. I would rather take it positively while looking on the bright side rather than linger in
dissatisfaction that could possibly influence my upcoming works.

3. What is your interpretation of “success?”

The definition of success may vary on how you perceive things; how you give importance to
your morals and belongings, also on things that you greatly aim for a long period of time.
Practically speaking, for me, success is being financially stable, having all your bills under
control, being able to provide not just for yourself but also for your family, having the capacity to
save funds for your future, and also having extra money to provide for your luxuries. However,
passionately speaking, success for me is something that makes my heart feels so alive and fiery
by doing the things I love while being able to touch other’s lives with my compassion and
enthusiasm. It’s about finding my purpose and fulfillment after reaching the goal I set for myself.
4. Suppose you are in a situation where ideas and priorities change frequently and rapidly. How
would you handle it?

I am a flexible worker, susceptible to change; hence, I can say that I am open to any kind of last
minute modifications. By staying positive can significantly impact my capacity to acknowledge
and adjust to work - related shifts. I will consider the objective of workplace adjustments and
how they can beneficially impact my line of work and nature of work to employ an
optimistic viewpoint. I will knowledgeably evaluate and consider any potential advantages of
workplace changes; with that I will not have any hard time choosing what to prioritize and I could
easily cater them one by one. It is advantageous to acquire a broader outlook on my job position
and how it makes a significant contribution to my particular department in a collectively
and macro level when workplace alterations take place. This would personally allow me to
determine how proposed changes are intended to benefit me and my employer.

5. Tell me about a time when you were a part of a great team? What was your part in the
success of your team?

Looking back on my Junior High School journey, I am so glad that I was surrounded by a
responsible, open for criticisms, and just incredibly great members. Thus, I am truly proud on
how our class works as a whole and how my classmates act as individuals. I am also proud that
I was given the opportunity to be able to lead a great team with remarkable members towards
our success as one. With the skill to efficiently communicate with one another, I had the
capability to bring out the best in them, squeeze amazing ideas from them, and encourage them
to get out of their comfort zones because I believe that in order for me to consider myself a
great leader, I should be able to listen to them and be able to view their perspectives as their
fellow member. Also, I am happy that I was able to instill a great mindset in them to be goal
oriented and focus on the bright side no matter how chaotic our situation was, even in the midst
of a pressure-filled atmosphere.

6. How would you describe an ideal work immersion supervisor?

An effective supervisor is one that provides direction, resolves issues, and listens to their
employees. Supervisors should work on improving their writing and verbal communication skills
in order to speak with conviction, precision, and conciseness. They must also be able to give
and receive both positive and negative feedback, as well as constructive criticism and input.
There is a limited amount of time, and certain projects or jobs are more important than others. A
versatile supervisor can prioritize tasks and delegate them appropriately to ensure that they are
finished on time and efficiently. A supervisor with good time management skills may manage
their team's huge workload in the most productive way possible without putting workers
stressed and burned out. When questions, disagreements, or concerns emerge, a competent
supervisor works closely with their team and should be immediately accessible. When
employees approach a supervisor with workplace grievances or suggestions, the supervisor
must listen. A good supervisor should be able to clearly communicate methods, objectives, and
goals to his or her team so that they can execute their duties well, which will boost his or her
own performance. Employees will feel more engaged and appreciated if they are frequently
updated about the team's accomplishments, potential obstacles, and development prospects.
Supervisors who arrive at work every day with a positive attitude contribute to a nice working
environment. Moreover, positive attitudes spread quickly. People tend to imitate the attitudes of
those around them, and being positive is a wonderful attitude to have.
2| Empathy and Compassion
If you can’t place yourself in your employee’s shoes, you won’t be able to lead them
effectively. For instance, you should know that a parent can’t work overtime, or an
employee going through a hard time might require temporary special considerations. When
you are accommodating in the face of genuine needs, your employees will be loyal in
return.
As a student, I would say that an ideal work immersion supervisor is someone adept at
delegating tasks to workers who are particularly well amenable to fulfill them. Appropriate
autonomy will facilitate the optimization of a task, improve its company performance, and
guarantee its potency. Conversely, poor delegation can jeopardize a work. Also, a great
supervisor comes with a substantial knowledge and skill in either written or verbal
communication skill. He or she should be able to compose him or her thoughts to the students
that necessitates proper guidelines and attention in order to cater the student’s needs. A good
work immersion supervisor should be able to communicate effectively with the students to keep
them updated and informed about the current happenings or news related to their work
immersion. Moreover, a good supervisor collaborates diligently with their team and must be
conveniently approachable when queries, confusion, or problems emerge. They should be able
to understand, empathize, and be one with the students in order to apprehend their sentiments
and come up with a considerate decision.

A good supervisor works closely with their team and should be easily accessible
when questions, conflicts or issues arise. As a supervisor, you will need to listen
when your employees come to you with workplace complaints or suggestions. This
requires important social skills such as empathy and emotional intelligence (being
aware of your own emotions as well as those of others).

If you focus on understanding your employees and make an effort to be

accommodating when they need support while facing professional or personal
challenges, you can earn their respect and trust. Work-life balance is an important
part of every employee’s career. If you can be understanding of this while still
leading your team to meet its goals, you will have increased your department’s
morale and earn your team’s loyalty.
