Topic: Handwashing for Toddlers

Venue: University of Perpetual Help System Dalta, Las Pinas Campus. Room 215

Participants: BSN-1B

I. Goal

Objectives

At the end of the health teaching, the Toddlers will be able to:

Cognitive:

1. To know the step-by-step procedure of handwashing.

2. To know the importance and benefits of handwashing.

3. To practice the proper way of washing their hands.

4. To enumerate the materials needed for handwashing.

Psychomotor:

1. To demonstrate the proper handwashing.

2. To be able to perform the proper handwashing while singing the handwashing song.

Affective:

1. Teach handwashing through a song and repetitions.


2. Use of illustrations.
3. Lively communication.
II. Content

Before we proceed to the main topic, we have an ice breaker or an energizer for the toddlers so
that we can capture their attention through a nursery rhyme “daddy finger”. Our topic for
health teaching includes the definition of hand washing, the effects of not practicing hand
washing, and enumerating the materials needed for washing the hands. For the continuation of
the topic, we will also discuss the ways on how to properly do the hand washing through
playing a song and at the end of it, there will a brief summarization of the topic.

III. Methodology

Teaching the toddlers how to properly wash their hands through:

 Story telling
 Videos with music and actions
 Discussion

IV. Time Frame

2 minutes: Orientation and warm up.

5 minutes: Present information. Discuss hand washing briefly followed by storytelling.

4 minutes: Guided demonstration: Assembling the materials needed and playing the song for
hand washing.

3 minutes: Evaluation. Independent practice done by the class.

1 minute: Summarization of the topic.

VI. Evaluation

Independent practice done by the class to ensure that the mentioned objectives are met and to
ensure the ff:

 To perform hand washing effectively after guided demonstration


 To apply in actual situation on what the teacher taught in the class
