Definition:
Bag Technique
The bag technique is a tool making use of a public health bag through which the nurse, during
his/her visit can perform nursing procedure easily and skillfully, saving time and effort, with goal
of rendering effective nursing care to clients.
The Public Health Bag contains basic items and medicine supplies needed for giving health
care. It is an essential and necessary equipment of the public health nurse which she has to

Principles
1. The proper use and observance of the bag technique will minimize, if not prevent the
spread of any infection.

effectiveness of total care given to the client and/or his/her family
4. The bag technique can be performed in a variety of ways depending on agency policies
and actual community or home situation, or as long as principles of avoiding transfer of
infection are always followed.
Special Consideration
1. The bag should contain all needed articles, supplies and equipment which may be
used to respond to emergency call
