The orientation of parents for the New Normal was conducted last August 19, 2020. The
meeting started at 9:30 in the morning with a prayer followed by the singing of the Philippine
national anthem. Opening remarks was given by Mrs. Liza R. Flores, the School Head of
Inacban Elementary School. Ma’am Ezel I. Laurente, a grade five adviser, presented the agenda
for the meeting. The agenda includes:
the discussion of what is COVID-19
the safety precautions
what is Learning Delivery Modalities
the schedules for the distribution of modules and simulations
how to use modules, the role of parents in LD
role of sudents in LDM and other matters.
During the opening forum, parents raised their questions about the module and how they it is
being used. They asked on where to get the modules and when it will retrieved and how
modules should be answered. They also raised the questions about the new normal set up classes
and how could they help their children when they even don’t know how to answer the modules.
Gradually, ma’am Ezel, was able to address their concerns and questions. Ma’am Ezel explained
well that they can ask help from her if they have questions through texts or calls. She provides
her contact number, facebook account and other social accounts. If they don’t have any gudgets
or devices to use for the communications, Ma’am Ezel also suggested to have a communication
notebook per parent/guardian.
In addition, Ma’am Ezel also gave tips or ideas on how to motivate their children in answering
the modules at home. She gave examples like giving rewards to the learner after answering and
also providing snacks like they were in school.
After a short explaination of ma’am Joann on their questions, there are follow-up questions
being raised by the parents. Like if they were not available to get the modules at school, how
could they get it. Ma’am Ezel told them to have any representative or parents who have children
from the other grade level to get the modules of their child or children.
At the end of the open forum, the parents were able to understand and agreed the agenda presented by
Ma’am Ezel. And parents were arranged by sets for the distribution of modules per subject. Then the
modules were distributed properly and carefully.
