Narrative Report

Webinar in Creating Video Presentation Using MS Powerpoint

The disruption in our educational system caused by the COVID-19 pandemic has

forced the adoption of other modes of delivering instructions in schools. Moving from the

traditional face-to-face learning to distance learning requires teachers to recalibrate their role

and develop other skills which can be very useful in delivering instructions in the new

normal. This poses a great challenge to schools in capacitating and gearing up their teachers

for the upcoming school year.

In response to this challenge, the Mt. View Elementary School, as part of the Brigada

Eskwela 2020 Webinar Series, conducted a webinar entitled “Creating Video Lesson using

Microsoft Powerpoint” last August 21, 2020. The said webinar was broadcasted through

Facebook Live in order to reach teachers from other places not just in Bataan. Mr. Bryan Jake

Mangune, a Teacher in Mariveles National High School-Poblacion served as the resource

speaker.

The training started with the singing of national anthem and a prayer though an audio

video presentation (AVP). It was followed by the introduction of the resource speaker by Sir

Jonathan Escaro who also served as the webinar moderator.

Mr. Mangune started his presentation by discussing the benefits of video lesson to

students. He emphasized that video lessons as supplementary instructional materials can

make learning more interesting and accessible to students especially in this time of Pandemic.

He also proposed that the school may create a channel where in students may have easy

access to all the video lessons that teachers will create.

After that, he presented the most popular applications or software that can be used in

creating video lessons. This includes filmora sern, powerdirector, kinemaster, and the

Microsoft Powerpoint. According to the resource speaker, MS Powerpoint was selected for

his presentation because all DepEd personnel were given a licensed account of MS office

365.

To prepare for the hand-on activity of the webinar, Mr. Escaro gave a two-minute

break for the participants to set-up their laptops and pre-downloaded materials which are

needed in creating a video lesson. After that, the resource speaker proceeded with the

demonstration and activities in creating video lesson using the MS Powerpoint which lasted

for almost an hour. The webinar ended with a question and answer portion and a virtual

awarding of certificate to the resource speaker.

Indeed, teachers who participated in this webinar had a very fruitful day as they

gained new knowledge and skills that they may use in fulfilling their roles as teachers in the

new normal.
