Churchgoers in the Philippines have been urged not to fall for products
advertised as being ‘holy’ to protect themselves from COVID-19. Besides alcohol,
church leaders said there’s no such thing as a holy face mask
The Catholic church in the Philippines warned against buying alcohol and other
products claiming to protect against the coronavirus.
“There is no sacramental holy alcohol that we should make the sign of the cross
with when we rub it to ourselves,” The Catholic Bishops Conference of the
Philippines (CBCP) said in a statement on Monday. “Moreover, it should not be
sprinkled on the faithful.”
They likewise warned that there are no such things as holy face masks, holy
face shields, holy hand sanitizers and holy personal protective equipment. “This is an
irreverent marketing strategy or gimmick,” the statement added

Lesson Using Information from
1
News Report and Speeches
You can’t live out your life without paying the slightest attention to the world
around you. In today’s world, news has grown to take on more forms than ever. It’s
the website we visit, the tweets we read, the facebook posts we like…it’s any
number of media platforms that we engage with on a daily basis. Those snippets of
information add up to our world view and inform us when it comes to making our
own opinions and judgements. News informs our decisions and our decisions effect
future events. In this lesson, you’ll answer one enduring question about “how are
you going to use these pieces of information in living your life as a student?”
What’s New
It is always useful to know what is going on in the world. If you are well-informed,
people will be less likely to fool you or manipulate you. The more you know what is
happening in the world, the more that you will be able to make good decisions. For
democracy to survive and thrive, well-informed people are really necessary
Just as no two Philippine Presidents are the same in priorities and governance, no
two State of the Nation Addressess are the same in content and in form.Identify the
following memorable quotes from the inauguration addresses of the country’s
presidents by matching column A with column B.
A. B.
1. “We are from now on Republicans; that is to say a. Manuel L. Quezon
men of law, able to fraternize with other nations
with mutual respect and affection.” b. Emilio Aguinaldo
2. “ We shall build a government that will be just,
honest, efficient and strong so that the foundation c. Fidel V. Ramos
10
of the coming Republic may be firm.”
3. “We became exiles, we Filipinos who are at home d. Corazon C. Aquino
Only in freedom. Now by God’s grace and the power
of the people, we are free again.” e. Joseph Estrada
4. “Poverty, we must learn to regard as another form
of tyranny, and we must wage against it the moral f. Benigno Aquino III
equivalent of war.”
5. “There will be no friend, no compadre, no relative
or offspring who can take advantage right now.”

2.Persuasive speech- are intended to get an audience to believe in a certain topic
or ideology.
3.Special occasions-type of speeches that are intended to fit the context of the
occasion to effectively communicate their message
What’s New
I believe that taking a half an hour break from classes to rest your eyes
and brain would benefit not only the students but the teachers as well. We
all get stressed; levels of stress are the same whether you are an adult or a
child. Higher stress levels make people get distracted because their mind is
focused on other things. Planning a nap into the curriculum, whether it’s a
quick sleep on the desks or in a dedicated room, will improve concentration
and the overall ability to absorb the materials.
