questions that follow.
Churchgoers in the Philippines have been urged not to fall for products
advertised as being ‘holy’ to protect themselves from COVID-19. Besides alcohol,
church leaders said there’s no such thing as a holy face mask.
The Catholic church in the Philippines warned against buying alcohol and other
products claiming to protect against the coronavirus.
“There is no sacramental holy alcohol that we should make the sign of the cross
with when we rub it to ourselves,” The Catholic Bishops Conference of the
Philippines (CBCP) said in a statement on Monday. “Moreover, it should not be
sprinkled on the faithful.”
They likewise warned that there are no such things as holy face masks, holy
face shields, holy hand sanitizers and holy personal protective equipment. “This is
an irreverent marketing strategy or gimmick,” the statement added.

Lesson
Using Information from
1 News Report and Speeches
You can’t live out your life without paying the slightest attention to the world
around you. In today’s world, news has grown to take on more forms than ever. It’s
the website we visit, the tweets we read, the face book posts we like…it’s any
number of media platforms that we engage with on a daily basis. In this lesson,
you’ll answer one enduring question about “how are you going to use these pieces
of information in living your life as a student?”
What’s New
It is always useful to know what is going on in the world. If you are well-informed,
people will be less likely to fool you or manipulate you. The more you know what is
happening in the world, the more that you will be able to make good decisions. For
democracy to survive and thrive, well-informed people are really necessary.
Just as no two Philippine Presidents are the same in priorities and governance, no
two State of the Nation Addressess are the same in content and in form. Study and
match the excerpts /memorable quotes from the inauguration addresses in
Column A with the name of the former Philippine presidents who uttered them in
Column B. Write the letters of the correct answers in your notebook or answer
sheet.

or offspring who can take advantage right now.”

Why is speech important?
Speech is a very important part of human development. Speech enables the person
to directly connect to a large number of people. It is a very effective way to change
the mentality of a large number of people, or strengthening their beliefs in the
speaker.
What are the three types of speeches?
1.Informative speech is meant to inform the audience of a specific message. The
goal of this speech is to give the audience new understanding of some topic one
might be familiar with.
2.Persuasive speech is intended to get an audience to believe in a certain topic
or ideology.
3.Special occasions type of speeches are intended to fit the context of the occasion
to effectively communicate their message

Lesson Using Information from
Informative Talks and Panel
2 Discussions
What’s New
The main goal of an informative talk is to help explain a specific subject and to
help the audience remember the knowledge later.
I believe that taking a half an hour break from classes to rest your eyes
and brain would benefit not only the students but the teachers as well. We
all get stressed; levels of stress are the same whether you are an adult or a
child. Higher stress levels make people get distracted because their mind is
focused on other things. Planning a nap into the curriculum, whether it’s a
quick sleep on the desks or in a dedicated room, will improve concentration
and the overall ability to absorb the materials.

• To analyze a problem from different angles
• To identify the values

world around them. There are three main types of news media; print,

discussion involves a group of people gathered to discuss a topic in front of an
