DRUG PREVENTION: AWARENESS IS SOLUTION
International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking 2020: It is also called
World Drug Day. According to the UN, about 269 million people worldwide used drugs
in 2018, which is 30% higher than in 2009. About 35 million people are suffering from
drug use disorders. People suffering from drug abuse are also at higher risk of
accidental injury, accidents, and reports of domestic violence.
Young people are the people most involved in this matter. They are the number
one target of unions which is one factor is getting them addicted to drugs. The worst
situation is that young people can also be used to drug dealers and suppliers as they
are the most vulnerable in terms of drugs and illicit trafficking. There are many factors,
but the most important one is that they lack knowledge and understanding about what
they are trying to get into, which is why they are easily brainwashed by drug unions.
Therefore, the youth should be encouraged to make healthier choices and for the
people and community to be moved strengthen family relations, school, and community
environments that foster and encourage healthy choices. To achieve this, we must
equip them with knowledge, understanding, and awareness that they have a fighting
chance against this issue. It is necessary to break the stigma of drug use and build
awareness for better health and future.
