ECOTOURISM DESIGN CRITERIA
WELL STRUCTURED FACILITIES
 In which the tourist have the freedom to used the facilities and could stroll around. It should be clean
and organized to sustain customer's satisfaction . The facilities is one factor that attracts the tourist.
Enough space should be prioritize as well as the personal space that the customer’s needs.
FUNCTION HALL
 A function hall were the tourist can still venture their business or have a business meeting aside from
enjoying their selves. Family/friends who wants to chit – chat all day with comfortable seats. The
decorated painting or other indigenous picture was also built in the wall.
FOOD HUB
 Local food should serve in this area. Local wine delicacies and other edible product made by the
local.
RESEARCH FACILITIES
 It is important to all ecotourism site to have research facilities to empower and still study the area.
Enrichment and development of the ecotourism site is the aim of this research
OPEN AREA
 In where the tourist can see sight the whole area and experience fresh air. It has cozy
ambiance like a nature parks theme.
MODERN FACILITIES EQUIPMENT
 Automatic door for convenient uses, as much as possible , it is equip that the door is located left and
right. There should be a fire exit, and there should be siren if earthquake occur. The facilities must

2 How will your list of ecotourism design criteria not compromise the natural setting and
become a peaceful host community of Batanes Protected Landscape and Seascape?
To prevent damages of ecotourism site like Batanes protected landscape and seascape,,
I ensure that I follow the ecotourism design criteria to promote environmental sensitivity,
Inclusivity, Cultural sensitivity, safety tropical design and gender sensitivity.
I am making my own design criteria based on my ideal perspective on what should an
ecotourism site have that would offer pleasurable and comfortable facilities to the tourist. This
may includes the culture and some practices of the people living in Batanes. It is one way to
promote locally they have. Additionally, I need to look on the other side of idea that it is
essential that the facilities is safe and offer sensitivity to any gender and culture. The aim of
making criteria design is to maintain orderly and still care the natural resources while making it
as tourist destination.

1 What is the visual focal point of these pictures?
The picture above indicates the principles need to consider in making ecotourism design criteria
from the upper left side environmental sensitivity like conserving water, Inclusivity, Cultural
Sensitivity, safety, tropical design and gender sensitivity. The above emotion principle is essential to
follow in order to ensure and prevent degrading of natural resources.
It is not all about the structure of the facilities that ecotourism have, but also it value the culture
of the people in the local area and the own culture of the tourist. The goal of cultural sensitivity is to
meet or compromise despite of the differences. Apart from that we need to preserve the resources
that we have. Yes, it is renewable resources, however we still need to maximize our consumption.
We never knew how long this resources could functions. We should never abuse our power to use
natural resources, or else we will suffer in the future.
Moreover, It is valuable that the ecotourism site promote the based local product of the place.
This would encourage number of tourist to visits, as a result it will increase economic growth local.
