    Reaction Paper: Raiders of the Sulu Sea

    How long are we going to fight for our country? Are we brave enough to stand
    and face the superior of power in order to achieve our desired independence? Courage
    and skill are one of the characteristics I admired the most from the raiders or the
    Filipino/Muslim who fought on their last breath for our freedom. How I wish that those
    other Filipinos in the past who gave up and betrayed our country in exchange of
    personal interest will have this kind of determination and strong will to fight for our
    sovereignty.

    From the short film we have watched about the Raiders of the Sulu Sea, I have
    learned a lot that about the Moro people and how they fought hand on hand and blood
    by blood among the Spanish Colonizers. I have somewhat understand why other people
    generalize Muslim people as brutal and savage and think on them negatively when it
    comes to fighting for their desired goals. Also, as being known expert sailors and being
    called master of the Sulu sea, we can get the idea and the images how they violently
    raid the territory of Spaniards using their courage and skill. I am greatly amazed how
    they were fearlessly battled against Spaniards who uses advance technology in fighting
    and raiders were only fighting by means of hand to hand combat skills and their deadly
    swords to cut off the enemies’ weapon. From the impressive battleships, deadly
    weapons and working together as one, I can’t imagine how brave they are to strategize
    and face those superiors in power just to gain our desired freedom.

    Muslim people may be known and generalize on many negative things like being
    brutal, violent, dangerous and merciless. But one thing is for sure I have learned from
    them, they also have a heart to fight for our country and freedom. They are brave and
    courageous to face anyone on anything just to fulfill their desired goals. And that is the
    outlook as an individual I badly wanted to have. It is because I am weak and not strong
    enough to face any challenges in my life. How I wish I have those courage and skill to
    fight not only for my dreams but also to make changes for our country.
