Warm-up and Objective Discussion
Warm- up
Teacher writes on the board the sentences:
I eat pizza yesterday
We go to the park last night
He finds a bullet dog last week
Then, teacher asks students if those sentence sound clear and correct to them. For some they
are right, but other might identify that the sentences are in present, but they are referring to the
past, which is grammatically incorrect. Now the teacher asks students to rewrite the sentences
on their notebooks but using the verbs in past. The teacher elicits the right sentences from the
class.
Objective discussion
The teacher shows a photo of his last vacation on the screen, but describes it using verbs in
present and empathizing those verbs for students to identify the mistakes. Then, the teacher
asks students what they think about his presentation if it was correct or if they noticed
something strange. The should have identified the mistakes when talking in past so it is
important to speak about past situations by using past tense, rather than simple present.

PRE-READING
Teacher explains simple past tense to the students, the affirmative, negative and yes/no
question forms. Then, students read a story in simple past called last Summer Holiday.
[ CITATION Tir14 \l 9226 ] which they will use as a model to write their own story about
their last vacations. Before reading, students brainstorm some ideas about their las vacations,
the activities they did and the people they met.
Guided Practice R W L S
READING
Now students read the story and answer the 5 comprehension questions that appear there.
They should say what activity they considered more interesting and why. For example,
visiting the museums or going to the beach. They will be asked if they would like this kind of
holiday or not and if not, what activity they would like to do instead. Now with the teachers
help students will rewrite the story on the board in order, just to rebuild what the author of the
text wrote.

POST-READING
Nos students write their own texts about their last vacation, they can get as much feedback as
they want during the class. Students should include at least 10 actions they did or didn’t do
during their last vacation. Teacher walks around to check understanding, clarify if students
have any question or just check the assignment’s development.
Assessment R W L S
Finally students will make a short presentation on their las vacation that will be evaluated.
First, they should use [Link] which is a platform they will use in the next class activity
as well (Lesson plan on how the Grinch stole Christmas) so that they can familiarize with the
software and explore its functions. In this case, students should make flashcards. Flashcards on
[Link] are a group of cards that have two sides and turn when you click on them. They
should make 10 flashcards to talk about their trip. On the first side, they will put a photo of the
activity they did on their las vacation and on the other side, they will type a sentence in past
where they describe the image.
For the presentation, they should show the side of the flashcard with the image and then the
class should guess the sentence, after the class’ participation, the student shows the other side
and describes the action generally. All students should participate in order to build the
holiday’s story of each one together.
