INSTRUCT AND MODEL

I will use one of the strategy which is teacher talk to help students focus on the lesson. I will
use teach, model and question as what the lesson tackle about lately. For the effectivity of
teaching firstly I need to teach what the lesson talk about and emphasize the main objectives of
the lesson for example storytelling and explain or model what happen in a certain story and
question to know how far the understanding and learning of each students on the lesson
discussed. In question I will ask them what do they learn from the story discussed

CAPSTONE 1

Why do you teach OR why do you want to teach (if you're not teaching now)?

If you are teaching now, what are your short term goals for teaching? For those who are not
currently teaching, what do you think your short term goals for teaching *might* be?

If you are teaching now, what are your long term goals for teaching? For those who are not
currently teaching, what do you think your long term goals for teaching *might* be?

Teaching Purpose: When I am a kid I don’t even know how to express correctly and
expressively with a certain crowd or people. I do say some words but for me it’s not enough. I
separate myself from other people away from judgement and be at my own pace of shell. I am
scared to judge by other despite of my accent. Unexpectedly, some of my teachers asked me
what happen why I disregarded myself from other people. At first, I am hesitate and be
reasonable with my opinion but she’s good to me and I know how she sincere so I say that I am
scared to express my own thoughts by using a second language because I am lack on how do I
respond to them and I don’t have self-confidence that time. I expect that my teacher laughed at
me that time but I was wrong she said that there’s no wrong giving or expressing own thoughts
she also remind me that if I practice how do I use my voice vocally to express what’s my mind
want to say one thing that I really need to do is to be prepared and aware what should I tell
them. There’s no wrong doing or try things if it’s good so, as a result even though I struggle in
some area I will never give up. One of the reasons why I choose the profession of teaching is to
inspire and educate a lot of children too just like my former teacher do. Here I am now; want to
study the new language for the future of my students.
As a future teacher, I want to teach English, I know it is challenging for many people to teach
this subject but for me I feel much inspired and motivated to enhance my skills and go beyond
my limits. I wanted to go out of my comfort zone and discover new things; I wanted to teach
myself how to be a responsible individual for the future. For me, teaching is a most special
profession among others because the life of student depends on teachers. Teaching helps
students enlighten their mind and motivate them at all cost.

Currently, I am still studying in a University Campus. My short-term teaching purpose is to equip

students with their understanding and skills of communication. Communication is one of the
main factors to survive so as a future teacher it’s my responsible to teach students. On the other
side, my long-term goal is to develop the skills of students they need to acquire just like their
eagerness to learn new things despite of individual differences.

Which approaches were the most relatable to you and the way you teach? Be sure to include
the Communicative Approach (as that's the basis of what Teach English Now! advocates) as
well as one or two other approaches.

Why did these approaches appeal to you more than others?

Were there specific ideas or aspects from certain approaches that you liked?

What were they and why did you like them?

Who will you be teaching? Elementary, middle or high school students? University students?
Business executives? Etc?

How will your teaching style best meet the needs of your students and motivate them to learn?

For me among those given approaches Communicative Approach is more likely suit with my
teaching style because it covers the four skills needed to improve student learning effectively.
The specific ideas I like is by the used of authentic materials such as books that would be a big
plus for students learning even language games and group works to enhance their
communication very will be teaching in Elementary. My teaching style helps students meet
their needs because I assure to them that in every lesson they’ve gained new knowledge and I’ll
make it fun to not make them boring.
Which techniques do you use in lesson planning or teaching? ( For example, scaffolding, warm
language, 80/20, lowering the affective filter, etc)

How much time do you spend teaching and how much time do you spend allowing students to
practice language? Why?

How do you motivate students on a daily basis?

Do you use warm language, teacher talk, language learning strategies, etc? If so, explain how
you use them in class.

What are some warm up/guided practice/independent practice/assessment activities you use?
Explain how you integrate these activities into your lesson plans and how they are beneficial to
the students.

How do you evaluate and assess students? Why?

The technique I will use in teaching is 80/20 which is 80 for practice and 20 for content that will
be a good focus for students learning. The time I will spend in teaching for example in a one
hour class I will spend 25 minutes for introduction and discussed the content of the lesson while
the 35 minutes given to students practicing their given materials for language because it is good
to be a center-student learning if they don’t know what they need to do teacher will be the one to
assist and explain what’s the instruction they need to do or perform. For me to motivate
students you need to express good vibes when you’re around from them and start with a
motivation activity to enlighten their mood.

For me I will use teacher talk, teacher talk will be a big help to encourage and understand the
lesson by explaining and giving them a model and questions. For me the most effective way to
ensure and evaluate student learning is summative assessment because summative
assessment are a given quizzes or summative throughout the lesson to know if each students
gained some knowledge. I do evaluate them based on their performance in the classroom
because that’s of their main behaviour in the class, how do they participate like that.
