-Synopsis

Introduction : In this ever growing city of hyderabad the vehicular traffic is constantly increasing
due to the density and the vehicles are taken care of by extending roads and providing flyovers,
But the pedestrian is not even considered, and all the footpaths are encroached or being used for
the road extensions and in worse case they are not even provided. Due to the apathy of the civic
authorities, about 90 per cent of the
city’s footpaths have been encroached
upon by commercial establishments,
vendors, government departments, and
others. Civic activists and pedestrian
safety organisations say Hyderabad can
never become a global destination if it
ignores 75 per cent of its people who
are pedestrians.Pedestrian crossings
and footpaths have been orphaned and
nobody wants to own responsibility for
them. There is not a walkable footpath
in the city. Around 95 km of footpath in
the city have been encroached, forcing
pedestrians to walk on the road.
Aim : The aim is to solve the problems
faced by the pedestrians due to the lack of footpaths in Hyderabad.
Objective : The objective is to provide elevated pathways using the existing structure of hyderabad
metro rail,That also serves the short stretches which provides the last mile connectivity.
Scope : The scope of work refers to the areas which are densely packed and suffering from heavy
traffic, which have metro line passing through them. Scope of work is now restricted to sultan
bazar streets.
