OVERVIEW UNIT PROPYLENE RECOVERY (104)

I. FUNGSI PROPYLENE RECOVERY UNIT


Fungsi
Memisahkan dan mengolah stream mixed C3/C4 yang berasal
unit LPG Merox 103 untuk menghasilkan propylene grade
polymer (minimum purity 99.5 %-wt) dan mixed LPG.

III. DESKRIPSI PROSES
1. Mixed C3/C4 dialirkan menuju C3/C4 splitter (104-C-501)
untuk dipisahkan butane/butylene (C4) dan
propane/propylene (C3)  menggunakan sistem kolom
distilasi konvensional.
2. Propylene dipisahkan dari propane di C3 Splitter (104-C-502)
 menggunakan modified distilation system dengan
penerapan tiga teknologi : (1) Heat pump compressor untuk
penyedia reboiler heating medium dan refluks, (2) UOP MD
distillation trays sebagai internal kolom, (3) UOP high flux
tube pada reboiler
3. Butane/butylene sebagai bottom product 104-C-501 dan
propane sebagai bottom product 104-C-502 dialirkan
menuju tanki LPG 47-T-501A~C
4. Propylene ex-104-C-502 yang masih mengandung air dalam
konsentrasi jenuh dihilangkan di propylene drier (104-V-
504A/B) sedangkan metal content dihilangkan di propylene
treater (104-V-505A/B)
5. Treated propylene yang telah memenuhi spec grade
polyemer dialirkan menuju tanki Propylene 47-T-511A~F

IV. PROSES VARIABEL


Feed Quality
 Reaktor RFCC dioperasikan pada severitas tinggi 
kandungan olefin meningkat
 Semakin banyak feed RFCC yang berasal dari hydrotreated
material, maka semakin menurun kandungan olefin
 C3 splitter (104-C-502) dilengkapi dengan multiple feed nozzle
untuk menjaga kualitas produk yang diinginkan ketika
konsentrasi olefin di feed PRU berubah
Feed Rate
 Perubahan kapasitas feed menuju unit akan mengubah beban
HE dan vapor/liquid loading di kolom fraksinasi
 Pengoperasian unit pada feed rate (LHSV) yang tinggi di atas
desain akan menyebabkan propylene drier (104-V-504) dan
propylene treater (104-V-503) mengalami overload proses
sehingga dapat menyebabkan produk propylene
terkontaminasi (off-spec).

Pemisahan C3/C4 (C3/C4 Splitter)
 Pemisahan C3/C4 ditentukan oleh pengontrolan temperature
tray atas dengan aliran sejumlah refluks yang dikirim ke kolom
 Tujuan dari pengontrolan ini adalah meminimalkan loss C3s
(top fraction) menuju stream C4 (bottom fraction) karena
merupakan loss yield
 Biasanya ada sebagian kecil fraksi iso-butene dan n-butane di
fraksi overhead.
Propylene purity
 Target tingkat kemurnian produk propylene tergantung dari
aplikasi; chemical grade : min. 95%-wt, polymer grade : min.
99.5 %-wt.
 Kemurnian produk dimonitor dengan pengecekan kemurnian
overhead product C3 splitter (104-C-502) dengan online
analyzer (104-AIC-001).
 Untuk menjaga tingkat kemurnian produk, jumlah pemanasan
di kolom diatur dengan mengalirkan sejumlah overhead gas
yang panas ex-discharge heat pump compressor (104-K-501)
yang akan dikirimkan melalui reboiler

VI. INTERKONEKSI DENGAN UNIT LAIN


Unit 103 (LPG Merox)
Stream mixed C3/C4 (LPG) dari Water Wash Vessel (103-V-504)
menuju C3/C4 Splitter Feed-Bottom Exchanger (104-E-501A/B).
Laju alir LPG dikontrol oleh LPG pressure controller (103-PIC-
001).
Unit 101 (RFCC)
Pemanasan di C3/C4 Splitter (104-C-501) berasal dari sirkulasi
heavy naphtha menuju C3/C4 Splitter Reboiler (104-E-503) dan
kembali ke Main Column (101-C-521). Jumlah aliran sirkulasi
heavy naphtha dikontrol oleh 104-FIC-003.
Unit 102 (Gas Concentration)
Fraksi offgas (C3-) akan menuju High Pressure Trim Condenser
(102-E-502A~D).
Unit 107 (Sour Water Stripping)
Sour water dari C3/C4 Splitter Receiver (104-V-501) dan
Regenerant Surge Drum (104-V-503) mengalir menuju Sour
Water Surge Drum (107-V-501). Masing-masing stream
dikontrol oleh LIC bootleg (104-LIC-003/011).

Unit 47 (Tankage)
 Treated LPG dari bottom C3/C4 Splitter (104-C-501) dan
bottom C3 Splitter (104-C-502) akan bercampur dan
dikirimkan menuju Mixed LPG Storage Tank (47-T-501A~C).
Produk LPG dikontrol oleh 104-PIC-016.
 Propylene dari Propylene Treater (104-V-505A/B) akan
dikirimkan menuju Propylene Tank (47-T-511A~F) dan
dikontrol oleh 104-PIC-010.

XI. START-UP PROCEDURE


A. Purging unit
1. Unit dianggap air-free bila O2 < 0.5 %-mole
2. Purging dilakukan dengan steam diikuti fuel gas/nitrogen,
kecuali seksi tertentu yang sensitif terhadap air (water),
purging dilakukan dengan vacuum (600 mmHg) dan break
nitrogen (0.35 kg/cm2g).

C. Pengaliran treated LPG menuju C3/C4 Splitter (104-C-501)


1. C3/C4 Splitter (104-C-501) diisi dengan treated LPG dari
unit 103 via 103-PV-001
2. Penyiapan C3/C4 Splitter Reboiler(104-E-503), C3/C4
Splitter Auxiliary Reboiler(104-E-504) dan C3/C4 Splitter
condenser(104-E-509) dengan menormalkan aliran utilities
(steam dan sirkulasi heavy naphtha dari unit 101)
3. Pemanasan kolom 104-C-501 perlahan dilakukan hingga
tercapai kondisi total refluks.
4. Jaga kondisi operasional kolom dengan mengacu pada
kontroller berikut :

D. Pengaliran mixed C3 menuju C3 Splitter (104-C-502)


1. C3 Splitter (104-C-502) diisi dengan mixed C3 dari
overhead C3/C4 Splitter (104-C-501); Jika pressure (104-
PIC-013) naik, maka venting nitrogen di sistem melalui
bypass line di 104-PSV-503A/B menuju flare.

2. Inventori mixed C3 di Compressor Suction Drum (104-V-
502) via start-up filling line dari C3/C4 Splitter Reflux
Pumps(104-P-501A/B). Proses pengisian dilakukan hingga
pressure mencapai 12 kg/cm2g.
3. Lakukan depresure hingga 6 kg/cm2g dan pengisian
kembali hingga sample vapor menunjukkan kandungan
nitrogen < 0.5 %-mole.

E. Penyiapan Heat Pump Compressor (104-K-501)


Sebelum menjalankan compressor pastikan spillback control
loop telah disiapkan. Spillback valve (104-FV-012) harus dalam
posisi bukaan dan flow control valve outlet reboiler untuk
material overhead harus dalam posisi tutupan. Jalankan
compressor sesuai dengan rekomendasi manufaktur.

F. Pemanasan C3 Splitter (104-C-502) dan Penyiapan C3 Splitter


Trim condenser (104-E-506)
1. Flow control valve untuk overhead material outlet reboiler
ex-104-K-501 mulai dibuka untuk menaikkan tekanan
kolom menuju desain. Bersamaan dengan ini C3 Splitter
Trim condenser (104-E-506) mulai dinormalkan.
2. Jaga inventory di kolom dengan suplai feed dari C3/C4
Splitter (104-C-501).
3. Atur kondisi operasi untuk mendapatkan refluks sesuai
desain

G. Menuju Operasi normal C3 Splitter (104-C-502)


1. Bila refluks 104-C-502 tercapai, alirkan secara kontinyu
mixed C3 dari 104-C-501.
2. Produk bottom (propane) maupun overhead mulai
dialirkan untuk menjaga level.

H. Inventory Propylene Driers and Treaters
1. Lakukan pengisian inventory di vessel secara seri. Laju
pengisian diatur oleh globe valve pada bypass PSV.
2. Persiapkan back pressure controller di outlet treater,
sehingga bila tekanan sistem telah tercapai, propylene
akan dikirimkan menuju off-spec storage.
I. Menuju Operasi Normal
1. Secara perlahan naikkan kapasitas mixed C3 hingga rate
desain.
2. Lakukan pengedrainan air dari semua point di di seksi
propylene drier hingga kering
3. Jika unit telah siap, lakukan regenerasi propylene drier
setiap hari dan propylene treater setiap beberapa hari.
