Institutional Goals
1. Formation of holistic person capable of integrating interdisciplinary themes into
academic content with Jesus Christ as its foundation and inspiration in the
pursuit of the learner's ultimate end and the good of society.

COLLEGE VISION-MISSION
VISION
We envision the USI College of Nursing to be the Premier Catholic School of Nursing in the Bicol Region
forming caring, globally competent Vincentian Nurses who are agents of social transformation.
MISSION
To form and empower future Vincentian Nurses who are socially conscious and responsive to the needs of
time and serve as leaders in the filed of nursing practice, research and community extension services.
GOAL
To produce a beginning Vincentian professional nurse who has imbibed values and the nursing core
competencies expected of the profession, who can function independently and interdependently as a
member of the interdisciplinary health team and who is ethically, socially conscious and responsive to the
needs of community and country in the light of global concerns.
PHILOSOPHY
The Philosophy of the USI College of Nursing is anchored on the belief that in its major role in the holistic
development of the human person, the Vincentian values and core competencies are the unifying dominant
domain to characterise nursing students.
The COLLEGE OF NURSING subscribes to the statement of the Mission, Goals, Objectives and guiding
principles of the ST. Louis de Marillac Educational System- USI. It shall enhance the competencies of its
internal /external clientele/stakeholder through empowering activities, leadership and excellence in relevant
nursing education, and development program , research, continuing education and community extension
services.
OBJECTIVES
Specifically, the College of Nursing, aims to prepare a fully functioning Vincentian Nurse Practitioner who:
1. Possesses caring behavior, compassionate, competent, committed, responsible and shows respect for
human dignity.
2. Demonstrate critical thinking skills in relating with self and others.
3. Practices, ethics-moral, legal and social responsibilities and accountabilities.
4. Demonstrates leadership and management skills in the care of clients in varied settings across the
lifespan.
5. Practices the right attitude, appropriate knowledge and skills for the promotion of health, prevention of
illness, restoration of health and alleviation of suffering.
6. Recognize the importance of continuing education and research in personal and professional
development.
PROGRAM OUTCOME
After finishing the program students will be able to:
PO1: Apply knowledge of physical, social, natural and health sciences and humanities in the practice of
nursing.
PO2: Provide safe, appropriate and holistic care to individuals, families, population group and community
utilizing the nursing process.
PO3: Apply guidelines and principles of evidence-based practice in the delivery of care.
PO4: Practice nursing in accordance with existing laws, legal, ethical and moral principles.
PO5: Communicate effectively in speaking, writing and presenting, using culturally appropriate language.
PO6: Document to include reporting up-to-date client care and multi-disciplinary and multi-cultural
teams.

At the end of first year, given actual or simulated situations/conditions, the learners demonstrate basic
nursing skills in rendering safe and appropriate care utilizing the nursing process
