Introduction of Concepts
I. Introduction:
The fundamental nursing concepts provide the framework for understanding nursing
practice. In this chapter, you will be equipped with the knowledge in understanding the different
basic concepts that shape your nursing education and teach you how to govern with your skills
and approach as nurses as you form the basis for ethics of practice along the way.
II. Learning Objectives:.
In this chapter, you’ll learn:

III. Core Content of the Chapter:
A. Concept of Man, Health and Illness
Nightingale defined health as a state of well being and using every power the individual
possess to the fullest extent. Health is a dynamic state that continually change as a person as
illness is an abnormal process in which functioning of a person is diminished or impaired.
To further dwell on this concept, this module on the Concept of Man, Health and Illness will
discuss the following:
