EDUCATIONAL PSYCHOLOGY:

IN MY VIEWS:
‘’Educational psychology is the scientific study concerned with the instructional process, dealing
with gifted children individual differences in the learning. It also includes social, emotional and
cognitive development that are involved in learning’’.
According to SKINNER
‘’Educational psychology is that branch of psychology which deals with teaching and learning
and also covers the entire range and behavior of the personality as related to education.”
According to WALTER B. KOLESINK
“It is the study of those facts and principles of psychology which helps to explains and improves
the process of education.”

EDUCATIONAL PSYCHOLOGY SUPPORTS TEACHERS:

Educational psychology play vital role in instructional process of learning for teachers. To make
teaching methods effective teacher has to know about psychology of the students. Educational
psychology provide framework to teacher through which teacher can plan, create and deliver
lesson in effective way. The information of educational psychology has a great importance for
teacher because it help the teacher to identify the objective of effective teaching learning and
serving people properly.
Educational psychology combines various psychology theories and principal like behavior
management human development motivation learning and assessment in order to improve the
condition of teaching and learning process. Educational psychology useful for healthy people also
useful for gifted children along with learning disabilities.
Education and psychology are dependent how teacher could teach without the insight of
Educational psychology. Psychology had changed the essence of education and give new sense of
study in classroom. Psychology also change the ancient approach of education where only high
class had the potential and right to learn. Psychology effects study in whole field of instruction
learning process. For years teachers training have written around the purpose, objective and targets
of educational psychology and have focused the importance of the field for the practice of teaching
and learning.
Educational psychology support teachers to understand that how the learning process occur and
enhance the memorizing process. Educational psychology help teacher in developing great
personality of their students. Teachers not only educate their students but also give them positive
nurture.
FOR EXAMPLE
UNDERSTANDING THE PSYCHE:
A huge role in teaching is played by understanding of psyche of students. During my visit and
teaching in the Government schools I learned a lot about how to understand the psyche of students
and utilize it to enhance the learning capabilities of those students. In the starting couple of classes
it was very hard to grab the attention of students in the Government schools. Then I began to
observe what their interests were, what were the things that motivated them. At the end I came to
conclusion that, as Gardner’s theory says everyone is intelligent in their own ways and as they
lacked in resources, I should change my way of teaching. In the next class I took the help of mainly
visual aids, I made chat to help me teach them and this really sparked the intrinsic motivation and
it was easier to grab their attention as well as for them to learn. So, I understood the psyche and
that help me immensely in teaching them and increase the intrinsic motivation for learning.
IMPACT OF TEACHING METHOD ON PSYCHE:
As I pursued my teaching career I had to tackle with various obstacles which I overcame by
implementing different methods of teaching. I noticed that trend in primary classes of teaching
Students by storytelling method. Subjects like Islamiat and history are mainly taught by means of
story as it is much more easier to absorb for the students. Likewise in my classes I took several
test to prepare students for their exams. When I took subjective test some of the student forget
about it and had only a fraction of knowledge left as time passed. Whereas when I took objective
tests, it was easier for them to remember what they had learnt because it was based much more
logic and key points rather than heaps of knowledge. Knowing the each student power of
absorption is different. The learner might get demotivated and gradually lose interest seeing others
doing well while he continues to fail to do same. Implementing different teaching methods helped
me learn about their psyche and also helped the learners to see the potential in them, giving them
a boost of motivation and making great progress.
EDUCATIONAL PSYCHOLOGY SUPPORT LEARNERS:

Educational psychology help students to cope up with trades like behaviorism, cognitive and
constructivism. As we know that all student learn in the particular manner like someone to learn
alone some want to learn in group and some are slow learners etc. educational psychology healthy
student as a mentor. It gives guidance to student to solve problems they face in learning process.
Educational psychology tell the fact that all the learners are unique and learners have diverse
capabilities along with different educational requirements. To maximize each learners intellectual
potential, teachers have to understand their psyche of learning. So teacher and educational
psychology supports learner who struggle with physical or cognitive disabilities. Teachers with
foundation in educational psychology become capable to minimize the gap created by disabilities
with the help of variety of learning tools. Learners have various levels of growth and development.
To create effective learning educational psychology help teacher in understanding different
characteristics of learners.Educational psychology guides learner in a correct manner so without
any distraction, they will follow the single and right path in accordance with their capabilities
FOR EXAMPLE
APPRECIATION:
2 years before I was in university. At home I teach a child of class nursery. When he came to me
he didn't know how to write in four lines of English copy. Then I start teaching him how to write
in lines. He understand my instruction and follow whenever I am close to him and watching
continuously. But whenever I was not watching him he always create mistakes. I talked to him that
when I was not watching you why you didn't write properly in lines. But he didn't answer me. This
condition goes on 2.5 month. After that one day I was taking test of two letter words in which he
learn good but again alphabets are not in lines. In this test I gave him excellent with two stars then
I noticed that he was very happy after getting this appreciation. On that day I learn the psychology
of child that he wants appreciation from teacher. after that on every good work I give him
appreciation in the form of words like good ,excellent, marvelous, fair etc.as time goes on I saw
improvement and motivation of child towards learning. So here I learnt his psychology that he
needs to be appreciate and this appreciation motivate him to work nicely. I also learn that
educational psychology help learners to improve the environment to understand the psyche of
learner to treat them in a right way.
ATTENTION:
I have been teaching for the last 7 years. Through my experience I have learnt the importance of
psychology in teaching. Just a single smile on someone's who you look up into this case on a
Teacher's face can result in drastic change in students learning capabilities. When I was teaching
in schools I encountered a boy who was a headache for all teachers. He was very mischievous and
showed negligible interest in studies so he was scolded and punished every single day. teachers
had their mind said that he is just like that, he would never change hence no one took their time
to hear what problems he actually had. I was a new teacher and taking its advantage I didn't let
him form the same opinion he had for others teacher, about me. I didn't scold him, showed him
extra attention in class would give him chances to read more in class. If he gets absent, I would go
up to him and ask if everything was ok. When it came to mistakes in test or homework, I didn't
scold him rather addressed His mistakes privately so he didn't feel attacked or ashamed but try to
learn. The progress he was made was astonishing. All that boy needed was some attention and
time. So, here I learn the psychology of boy that he only need some attention from the teacher and
when he get proper attention he improve his learning in every aspect.
