Speaking and listening group task

Victor Frankenstein has created and brought his monster to life.


Two days later, the monster is terrorising the residents of
Ingolstad – he has damaged market stalls, had fights with local
residents and set fire to people’s houses. Victor Frankenstein
was caught trying to leave the city of Ingolstad and is now under
police guard awaiting trial.

A press conference is to be held between Victor Frankenstein and the


residents of Ingolstad. The following people will attend:

• Victor Frankenstein - appalled and horrified by what he has done (but


maintains it is all in the name of science).

• Reverend Worsey - angry with Frankenstein’s attempts to bring a


body to life (also represents parishioners who have had their homes
damaged).

• Henry Clerval- a friend of Frankenstein who warned him not to carry


out these actions, but nonetheless retains some loyalty to his friend.

• Marie Franco - a reporter for the local tabloid newspaper. She needs
to create a front page that will sell!

• Professor Waldman - a supporter of scientific developments from the


university where Victor Frankenstein trained.

The press conference is your chance to ask Victor Frankenstein all about
what he has done and gain answers to any questions you have.

To be successful make sure that you:

• stay in role throughout the drama


• when not in role, be a supportive member of the audience
• decide on some interesting questions and answers beforehand
• take turns rather than talking over each other
• project your voice loudly and clearly.
