There are a number of puzzles in the Black Ops 6 safehouse, your base of operations for the campaign. The safehouse plays all the classics: from the piano-opens-a-secret-door gag to alphanumeric codes and hidden blacklight messages.

It concludes in finding your first campaign safe code, of which there are nine in total to find in Black Ops 6. Though this is the most elaborate, it’s well worth doing if you want some free money to kickstart your upgrades, plus a unique knife blueprint.

Here’s how to solve all safehouse puzzles in Black Ops 6, plus how to open the safehouse safe.

Basement generator puzzle solution in Black Ops 6

After completing the first mission of the campaign, you’ll enter the safehouse and be given free rein to explore. The puzzles here are fairly linear, but the first two steps can be completed immediately.

You need to complete the piano puzzle to open the first door that gets you into the basement, and the generator puzzle to open the second. Either can be done first, but the piano is right beside the first door so it’s a bit more convenient to get the generator done first.

The generator can be a bit tricky to find as it’s in another basement and the door isn’t very obvious. If you are facing the room where Woods can be found, look to your right. There will be a hallway leading through the ground floor, and a door immediately on your right as you enter it. Go through that door and down to the basement to find the generator.

There is a note on the table that gives you some vague instructions on how to start the generator. It explains that you need to partially fill the fuel before igniting the pilot, and then fill the boiler with water to get it running.

In gameplay terms, this translates to turning the boiler valve twice to empty the water, and the fuel valve once to reduce the fuel gauge to half. Then, hit the pilot switch. You’ll hear some noises confirming that it worked, so now turn the boiler valve twice to fill the water. This will start the generator and complete this part of the puzzle.

Piano puzzle solution in Black Ops 6

With the generator running, head to the room with the piano, just beyond the main room. You’ll find the blacklight here, which you will need for future puzzles. We have a dedicated guide to the piano puzzle, but essentially what you need to do is look around the room with the blacklight to find out what to do.

The blacklight will highlight several Cyrillic letters around the room, beside numbers and arrows. The numbers tell you the order of the letters, and the arrows indicate where the next letter is in the room. When you interact with the piano, you will see these Cyrillic letters above the keys when you shine the black light over them.

To open the basement door, press the five keys in the order indicated by the letters. These are:

  • Ми
  • Рe
  • До
  • Pe

Head down into the basement through the door that opens beside the piano, the door down here will be unlocked if you have completed the generator puzzle. Go through and you’ll be met with three hallways: left, right, and straight ahead. The only way you can progress is to the right, where you’ll find a keypad.

Basement keypad puzzle solution in Black Ops 6

This is less of a puzzle and more trial and error. To find the code, you need to play a numbers version of Wordle; but first, you need your blacklight.

Shine the blacklight on the keypad to see several fingerprints. We’re looking for a five-digit code, so look for the buttons with the most prominent and brightly-lit fingerprints. The code is different for everyone, so we can’t simply tell you what it is. Also, there may be repeated numbers, so if you only find that four numbers are showing fingerprints, whichever one is the brightest is likely the double.

Enter your five digits and you’ll be given a response on the right. Any numbers marked red are incorrect, yellow numbers are correct but in the wrong spot, and green means the number is correct and in the right place. You can use this to narrow down the possibilities and find the correct code to open the door.

Decode cipher puzzle solution in Black Ops 6

Inside this room, you’ll find lots of very old computers. Go around to the left and you’ll see a terminal you can interact with. You’ll be shown a table of numbers, a code word at the top, and a cipher at the bottom. Each number represents a letter, so your job here is to read the cipher to figure out the code word.

Put simply, you need to look at the series of numbers at the top of the screen, find the matching letter for each number at the bottom of the screen, and then input the code. The four words you get here seem to be the same for everyone, but not necessarily in the same order, and the cipher seems to change as well.

The code words are:

  • ROOM
  • HOLDING
  • OPEN
  • BUNKER

So long as you follow the cipher shown on-screen, you should have no issues with completing this puzzle. With the codes entered, the door in the middle hallway will unlock.

Inside, you will need to complete a simple lockpicking minigame to open the next room. You just need to move the lockpick around until it begins to glow, then hold it there to open the door. Head inside and grab the key to the final basement room.

Radio room puzzle solution in Black Ops 6

The key opens the door in the left hallway from where you first entered. If you walk down there, you’ll notice an icon telling you there is a signal coming from the room. Follow that signal to find the radio, just to the left of the TV. Interact with it to begin this part of the puzzle.

You’ll shown an oscilloscope machine, with two waveforms shown on the screen. You can control the amplitude and frequency of one of these waveforms, and you need to make it match the other. First, increase the amplitude until the top and bottom of the waveforms are lined up. Then, adjust the frequency to match the width. Once you have it right, the radio will begin playing a message on repeat.

What this message says is different for everyone, so unfortunately this is another instance where we cannot just give you the answer. However, we can explain exactly how this works. If you turn on your blacklight and look around the room, you’ll see numbers appear on or near several of the items in the room. The message mentions four of these items, which gives you the four-digit code to open the safe.

For example, here is the message we got: “He slumped on the couch, his wife’s purse still missing. He noticed the calendar marked with his brother’s birthday, just under the memorial flag.” The keywords in that statement are couch, purse, calendar, and flag. By checking those items around the room, we got our code, 3196.

To solve this yourself, listen carefully to the message. The message repeats over and over while you are in the room, so you don’t need to worry about memorizing it. Look around and take notice of any items that have a number on or beside them. See which ones correspond to your message, then memorize the numbers in order, or jot them down.

Here are all the numbers in the room that we could find, with their corresponding items. Bear in mind, that we cannot confirm every single radio recording, so what we call them and what the radio message calls them may differ.

How to open the safehouse safe in Black Ops 6

Once you have your four numbers from the above radio room puzzle, return to the ground floor then head upstairs. The safe is in one of the bedrooms. Go up the stairs in the main foyer beside the front door, then go around to the left. This will bring you into a bedroom where you will find a safe beside the bed. Input your code to complete all of the puzzles, get yourself the Case Cracker melee weapon blueprint, and a handy $1,000 in your pocket.

With that done, continue playing and find the remaining safe code locations throughout various missions to get even more cash for the safehouse, as well as complete the “Safe Cracker” campaign challenge.

Once you’re done with the campaign, if you need some help with multiplayer, we have explainers on maps, Double XP, and the best guns, such as the XM4.
