Something in the Water organizers sign contract after Virginia Beach mayor threatens cancellation

After missing a Nov. 1 deadline to sign the city's sponsorship contract, the festival organizers regrouped this week and signed the contract Friday, according to a city spokesperson.

The sun goes down and Something in the Water starts heating up April 29, 2023, at the Oceanfront.

Final election results in Chesapeake show longtime incumbent Debbie Ritter was successful in securing reelection on the City Council, while political newcomers Les Smith Jr. and Pat King snagged the second and third open at-large seats. Challenger E.R. "Jeff" Jefferies Jr., however, finished within 1% of the third highest vote getter, meaning he could formally request a recount.
