PEA RIDGE 52, GRAVETTE 41

The Blackhawks improved to 3-1 in 4A-1 Conference play with a win over the Lions on Saturday.

Gravette led 14-12 after the first quarter, but Pea Ridge outscored the Lions 12-6 in the second quarter to take a 24-20 lead at halftime. The Blackhawks (11-8) led 39-32 going into the fourth quarter.

Zion Whitmore led Pea Ridge with 16 points, while Jayden Puckett and Truman Wheeler each had 9.

Holden Jefferies led Gravette (10-7, 2-2) with 10 points, while Jackson Harp had 9.

GIRLS

PEA RIDGE 60, GRAVETTE 45

Brooklyn Winn scored 23 points to lead the Lady Blackhawks past Gravette in a 4A-1 Conference game Saturday at Blackhawk Arena.

Pea Ridge led 16-8 after the first quarter and 43-15 at halftime. Pea Ridge took a 57-28 lead going into the fourth quarter.

Makena Ward added 10 points for Pea Ridge (11-9, 4-0) while Makenzie Stites had 9.

Russell had 11 points for the Lady Lions (8-10, 0-4).

John Brown women survive close call

Abbey Sanders' three-pointer with 2:27 remaining gave John Brown the lead for good, and the Golden Eagles held on for a 56-54 victory over North Texas-Dallas during Sooner Athletic Conference women's basketball action Saturday afternoon in Bill George Arena.

Sanders' bucket put John Brown (9-7, 7-5) ahead 52-51, and Sarah Snodgrass added a bucket and two free throws to make it a 56-51 game with just under a minute remaining. North Texas-Dallas (4-11, 3-10) pulled within 56-54 on Skye Dugan's three-pointer moments later, but the Trailblazers missed a pair of chances to tie the game in the closing seconds.

Snodgrass finished with a double-double as she led the Golden Eagles with 16 points and 19 rebounds. Caelyn Ferguson added 11 points and Graci Harris 10 for John Brown, which hit only 21 of 61 shots (34.4 percent).

Eryka Patton had 16 points for North Dallas-Texas, followed by Dugan with 15 while De'Asia Johnson had a team-high 14 rebounds.

John Brown returns to league action next week with a game against College of the Ozarks at Point Lookout, Mo.

Golden Eagles roll by UNT-Dallas

The John Brown men improved to 8-4 in Sooner Athletic Conference play with an 82-74 win over North Texas-Dallas inside Bill George Arena on Saturday.

The Golden Eagles (10-6) led 39-35 at halftime and outscored the Trailblazers 43-39 in the second half.

Trae Oetting and Elijah Lawrence each scored 17 points for the Golden Eagles, with Lawrence scoring 12 of his points in the second half.

Drew Miller and Jack Ullom each had 12 points. The Golden Eagles hit 26 of 53 shots from the field and 23 of 28 from the free-throw line.

Daniel Sohn and Greg Crawford each scored 19 points to lead UNT-Dallas (7-9, 4-9), while Demaryon Thornton had 11.
