Hon. Robert M. Silverson was a Judge in the Civil Court of the City of New York, and also sat as a Trial Judge in Bronx County presiding over jury and non-jury trials in both commercial and insurance cases. As a mediator and arbitrator with NAM, Judge Silverson specializes in commercial and insurance litigation, encompassing medical and dental malpractice, as well as general and products liability for primary and excess carriers. In addition to his work as a hearing officer, Judge Silverson also serves as a consultant to the insurance industry and is retained by major companies throughout the country and abroad.

Judge Silverson also serves as a special arbitrator to the International Court of Arbitration, International Chamber of Commerce in Paris, France, having been designated as such in 1993. He is a co-founding member of the law firm of Silverson & Pareres, which he started in 1992. From 1992 to 2004, he served as counsel to the New York State Senate Insurance Committee. Prior to founding Silverson & Pareres, Judge Silverson was a partner in the law firm of Fisher, Fallon, Salerno, Betlesky and Kelly, specializing in medical malpractice and general liability defense litigation for the State Insurance Fund and New York State Liquidation Bureau. His expertise in insurance also stems from his industry background as a claims adjuster and claims supervisor for a major insurance company for several years.

While on the bench, Judge Silverson was an adjunct professor at Lehman College, City University of New York. Prior to his election to the Civil Court, Mr. Silverson was a partner in the law firm of Stone & Silverson, a commercial and insurance litigation firm in Manhattan. Additionally, Mr. Silverson served as an Assistant District Attorney in Bronx County from 1970 through 1974 and tried over 40 cases and handled over 24 appellate matters in both the Appellate Division and the Court of Appeals.

Judge Silverson is available to arbitrate and mediate cases throughout New York State.
