... Read More >The Honorable Paul J. Baisley, Jr. (Ret.) has enjoyed a long and distinguished legal career that includes substantial experience as both a judge and a litigator. During his time on the bench, Justice Baisley presided over and settled more than a thousand cases, providing him with a broad range of experience and knowledge across numerous case types such as commercial, employment, insurance, fraud, labor law, matrimonial, medical malpractice, negligence, personal injury, premises liability, real estate, and real property, including commercial and residential matters. Since joining NAM, Judge Baisley has heard cases in a wide array of practice areas including auto accidents, construction, medical malpractice, nursing home disputes, personal injury, premises liability, property damage, and slip and fall cases.
Earlier in his career, Justice Baisley was elected to the Supreme Court, 10th Judicial District, Suffolk County. His time on the bench includes four years in a dedicated Matrimonial Part followed by three years in a Regular Jury Trial Part. He then served 17 years as the Presiding Judge in the Trial Assignment Part (TAP) while simultaneously acting as the Supervising Judge of the Civil Trial courts in Suffolk County. Justice Baisley’s judicial career began when he was elected to serve as a judge for the Suffolk County District Court, Third District, where he sat from 1995 through 1997.
Prior to his service on the bench, Justice Baisley served as Assistant District Attorney for Suffolk County and then as a Deputy Bureau Chief in the Suffolk County Attorney’s office. In that position, he represented the County and its police officers in negligence actions, commercial, employment, insurance, premises liability, real property, and Federal Civil Rights cases.
Justice Baisley was also engaged in a successful general litigation practice where he litigated both commercial and personal injury cases, as well as medical malpractice and municipal litigation matters. Justice Baisley is known and respected for his legal acumen and his ability to resolve conflict in an unbiased manner. Practicing attorneys that have appeared before him have commented:

In 2013, Justice Baisley was designated a fellow in the ASTAR Judge Program (Advanced Science and Technology Adjudication Resource project) which provided an advanced level of scientific and technological training to better manage and adjudicate cases. He is also an Adjunct Professor in the Law Department at Suffolk Community College. Justice Baisley is available to arbitrate and mediate cases throughout New York.
