Mr. Freitag is an avid proponent of Alternative Dispute Resolution and has frequently served as a mediator and arbitrator in hundreds of cases involving complex litigation and catastrophic personal injuries. He has garnered a reputation for his fair valuation of claims and is dedicated in his effort to assist parties in moving cases toward resolution. In 2012, in the wake of Hurricane Sandy, Mr. Freitag served as a mediator to settle claims made by homeowners adversely affected by the Super Storm.
His reputation, integrity and service have led to numerous appointments by the Surrogate and State Supreme Courts to positions of fiduciary responsibility wherein he has represented the needs of those unable to represent themselves. In 2023, Mr. Freitag was voted a Top Ten Arbitrator for the seventh year in a row by the New York Law Journal “Best Of” survey. He was also the recipient of the 2013 “Advocate of the Year Award” by the Institute of Jewish Humanities for his dedication to the community and the legal profession. Additionally, Mr. Freitag is a Board Member and past President of the venerable Emerald Association of Long Island, a charitable organization dedicated to the purpose of raising funds for the care, maintenance, and education of dependent children.
