NEW: 2024 Solar Industry Survey Report Just Released!
CLIFTON PARK, NY (May 24, 2024) – The North American Board of Certified Energy Practitioners (NABCEP®) is excited to share the second-annual Solar Industry Survey Report! Our partners at SolarReviews did an incredible job compiling the polling analysis from hundreds of PV professionals, installers, wholesalers, and manufacturers.
As a result of this survey, there are many interesting trends and key statistics that we can highlight to demonstrate the progress that has been made in our industry. More importantly, we can utilize this information to create a bigger and better solar energy workforce that can tackle future challenges!

Key statistics:
- Survey respondents reported that 30% – up from 11% last year – of their employees were NABCEP certified.
- Up to 55% of installation/solar companies said they require installation workers to obtain Continuing Education Units (CEUs) each year
- 70% of installation/solar companies cover the costs of CEUs for their installer workforce, highlighting the importance of these certifications within the solar industry
- 36% of survey respondents stated that “Industry Certifications” are the most important skill for workers they are looking to hire (fourth highest on the list after training/experience!)
