Ruben Amorim will ask Manchester United's chiefs to limit his interview time after making a host of media appearances in his first week.

The new manager first spoke to the media in the build-up to the game at Ipswich and also conducted a Sky Sports one-on-one interview with Gary Neville. He was also involved in his usual media duties after the draw at Portman Road, chatting to broadcast and print.

His post-match Sky Sports interview was interrupted midway by Ed Sheeran, himself a massive Ipswich fan, with the music icon copping criticism for doing so. Shortly after that, Amorim's media commitments came to an end on Sunday evening.

Amorim joked that he'd spoken more in a week in Manchester than he did during his four year stint at Sporting Lisbon and wants to reduce the amount of time he deals with the press so he can spend more time with his players. He said: "This week I spoke more to the media than I did in four years at Sporting. I just want to work with my players. Nothing more."

It is understood that Amorim will make a request to United's communications department to limit requests so he can focus on training the squad. The 39-year-old has been quick to bring in his 3-4-3 system, which helped him achieve huge success at Sporting, but it is new to a lot of his United players and the more time they have on the training pitch will aid them.

Amorim was willing to highlight the errors his team made as they were held to a draw at Ipswich, despite taking an early lead following Marcus Rashford's opener. The new United boss put some of their errors down to overthinking with his next outing in the Europa League this Thursday.

He said: "I think my players were thinking too much. We lost some balls without pressure. But they really, really tried and they want this.

"It's a tough league. You learn that in the first moment. My players were thinking too much in the game. You can feel it. Not just on the ball but where they are supposed to be. And that is hard. It's just two days with the team, so it's really hard. I think we needed more physicality in the first half.

"It's a tough match, we lost some balls without pressure. You have to control the ball and the tempo of the game. They didn't do it but they really tried. They are really trying and they want this. We have to try to from the first moment, we have to address the new idea and try to be better next year at the same stage."
