Players are urged to check their tickets and to give us a call if they think they are tonightâs lucky winner.â The National Lottery recently celebrated its 30th birthday by hitting a huge £50 billion fundraising goal for good causes. Since starting on November 19, 1994, it has managed to raise more than £30 million each week for good causes. Major moments of its funding over the past three decades include opening the Shakespeare's Globe Theatre, the Eden Project and the release of This Is England. The biggest ever win was scooped by a lucky Brit who - perhaps unsurprisingly - wished to remain anonymous. They scooped the record EuroMillions jackpot of £195 million in July 2022 â the biggest National Lottery win of all time and making them richer than Adele, Ed Sheeran and Harry Styles. The National Lottery has also funded the making of more than 600 films which have won some 551 awards, including 16 Oscars, 128 BAFTAS and 34 Cannes awards.Top Stories Don't Miss FollowMirrorFacebookX (Twitter)Comment MORE ONBreaking NewsNational LotteryGet email updates with the day's biggest storiesSign upInvalid EmailSomething went wrong, please try again later. We use your sign-up to provide content in ways youâve consented to and improve our understanding of you.
