Castors automatically lock so you can't move chairJeremyThe chair is a good size, attractive, and probably durable and of decent quality. Why would you make a chair with roller castors that won't roll though? Your safety engineers have ruined what would have been a fine chair. I can't pull it to me with one hand, the locked castors are marking and scratching my floor, mostly it is annoying me greatly. I am pretty sure that floors are level in Sweden too, what was the hazard here? How can a chair runaway on a flat floor? 1

Fits My NeedTerryThe caster wheels DO roll when you sit in, or push down on, the chair. Brakes are applied when there is no weight on the chair. The chair DOES recline. Note that the back, the seat, and the arms are solidly attached together and will tilt as a single unit; the back does not recline independently. The seat cushion is thin, but a thick cushion does not guarantee comfort. The lightly padded seat allows me to try different seat cushions. The seat is smaller than the average office chair, being only 17” deep, which allows me to sit all the way back in the chair, taking proper advantage of the lumbar support. The back of the chair does have a curvature that makes it uncomfortable around the neck area if you lean back, but using a neck pillow fixed the problem. There is no one size fits all. If you are above average height or weight, it’s unlikely that you will find this chair comfortable. Luckily, Ikea has a showroom where you can try out all their chairs before buying.5

Not suitable for long sittingFarshadI bought this chair from IKEA store in Northyork. Eventhough it seemed to be a nice chair after a couple of hours of using it I came to realize that the sitting area is not that comfortable. The backrest provides a good support but the sitting area is too thin. If you are working from home or your situation requires long sitting, I would not recommend this chair.3

At IKEA we have experience of life at home, but we’re beginners in the gaming world. That’s why we decided to team up with recognized experts from Republic of Gamers (ROG), to better understand what everyday life is like for devoted PC gamers. It resulted in desks, chairs, storage and accessories that can help more players to more victories.

Ask any gamer and they’ll tell you gaming is more than a fun past-time. It’s a way to wind down and connect with others – for some, even a livelihood. When Sofia Wiktorsson, one of our product developers, started working with our new range for passionate players, she stepped into a completely new universe – the gaming world.

We level up to help more gamers

“We cooperated with ROG the whole time and met both professional and high-performance gamers,” tells Sofia. When she and the team got to pick the brains of the players and watch them in action, it became clearer where IKEA can make a difference. “We saw a need for comfortable and ergonomic chairs and aids for long gaming sessions, stable furniture and accessories that improve the precision, and smart storage for the hardware. But, we also developed solutions that make it easier to eat and drink without spill while playing.”

Democratic gaming

There are several billion gamers in the world, but it’s not a uniform group of people – the diversity is big, with different cultures, ages, educational levels and incomes. “We want to make it possible to adapt the gaming station to your taste and your needs, no matter where you come from, if you live on your own, or together with someone else,” explains Sofia. “The products should fit with all other things people have in their homes. It’s our way to democratise the good gaming experience – for both gamers and the ones that don’t play.”
