So very disappointed 😔 Anonymous reviewerI finally had to replace my 12 year old Friheten, I loved it so much I bought it again. Only it’s not the same, the quality is so shabby in comparison to my old one. There are huge gaps where there weren’t before, the fabric has been so poorly put on and unevenly stretched, and the padding on the pull out bed was not spread out properly before the cover was put on leaving a huge lump to sleep on. Plus there is a big pull in the fabric. See pics. I’m so disappointed but delivery was such a problem I’m too afraid to replace. Come on IKEA, you’re better than this.

Great product for great priceAnnaLove it5
Bad Quality SandeepThe sofa I received was such a bad quality I am having a lot of issues while making a sofa to bed, it never stays at its place. When I asked about the exchange they told me to dismantle it and only then they can pick up and exchange. It was so hard to assemble it at first, I did not want to do that all over again. I still have the sofa but I am not at all comfortable using it 1
Great product!LisaWorth the money & comfortable as sectional & pulled out as a bed.5
Indigo Sofa bedNancyThe sofa is beautiful in colour and it’s comfortable. I like It’s fits in small spaces like my living room and turns into a bed for my guests that want to sleep over! Overall it’s a worth buying! 5
Great Sofa, Great PriceChrisThe Friheten is a fantastic sofa. It is very comfortable with nice material. The material is tough and it cleans fairly easily in the event of a spill.
It pulls out into a bed and is very comfortable, great for guests or just a relaxing movie night. There's also some very good storage for blankets and pillows.5

Terrible, cheap product JodieThe sofa bed broke and the fabric showed wear with very, very little use in just one year of use. 1
Poorly madeKatherineWe purchased this same couch in 2020 and LOVED it. We just purchased it again in May 2024 and we disappointed. It was poorly made. The way the two couch cushans come together leaves a huge space. These photos are AFTER we used wood to shimmy them closer together. The cushan that is on top of the part that lifts for staorage was made loppsided so there is a large gap in the middle. Im guessing IKEA outsourced their manufacturing to a new plant or something because the last couch was much better quality!2
Terrible quality and serviceAmandaThis sofa bed seemed perfect for what I needed so ordered it online to have it delivered and paid the $60 delivery fee (wouldn’t fit in my car). I realized it was garbage when the ottoman storage lid would not fully close, there was a 1/2” gap, just big enough for my toddler to get his fingers/hands crunched in. There was also a large gap between the two sections of the sofa that are held together with brackets. It was big enough for my toddler to get his arm/foot stuck in and injured. Lastly, there was a large gap between the roll out part of the bed and the main part of the sofa. It looked nothing like the showroom model in the store. It was ugly and VERY UNSAFE for children. I called Ikea to notify them of the quality issue. I sent videos and they agreed it was a quality issue. They said I would get a refund for the sofa and the delivery fee but so far they only refunded me for the sofa, not the $60 delivery fee. I wasted countless hours of my life on this sofa and I’m out $60.

Its an ok Sofa bedChrisI have had this couch for a year. The couch works great as a sofa and a bed, and we find the comfort to be great. The cover material however, is terrible. It’s pilling and losing fiber. I don’t see this couch lasting ten years with the cover deteriorating as much as it has in a year. I have had to put another protective cover on the couch to try and reduce the obvious wear and tear. There are no kids or large pets in the house, so this should not be happening.3
Don't get this if you have kidsMatthewThe structural design of this sofa bed is not sound. In particular, the two back pieces are not connected, leading to weakness and damage. When anyone pushed on the back piece that runs along the side of the lounge, it put stress on and damaged the particle board of the lounge element. After 6 months ours needed significant home repairs that IKEA did not support. We have pre-teen kids and they are likely rougher on our furniture than adults would be, but we have been very disappointed by the structural quality.
Assembly was easy and we think it looks nice when in one piece. But I wish they had a stronger way to connect the two back pieces rather than just unsecured pegs. 2
Ok but not super functionalMelanieAs a couch its fine.. as a bed.. absolute trash. The pull up section keeps rolling right out from under the sofa, the hooks and latches werent made right.. if you pray and pull it just right in a perfectly straight line it might catch but even then once you lay on it, it unlatches. I have to use my coffee table to hold it in place. Truly sad quality.2
Worst purchase of a sectionalUmairI bought the product 4 months back and even after minimum usage I can see the side cushions are coming off. Ikea is just using glue to stick the side cushions.
The seat cushions are also poor quality I can see them going in. Never buying from ikea again as your customer service is also so bad that they will lie so that products can not be returned. 1
New Version Is AwfulSiu WaiI have owned 3 of these across 2 continents. I purchased my first in 2013 in Austria. The surface material isn't the most comfortable, but it was a great sofa bed. I purchased another one when I moved to Spain in 2015. It was the same as I remembered. I purchased it for the last time in 2019 in Canada and ever since then, it has changed dramatically. This new version had even rougher surface material. The sitting part of the sofa where the slide-out is, is not firm but mushy so that it hurts your back when you sit for a long time, and it sinks in when you sleep on it - feeling different from the other firmer parts. The slide out also doesn't always hook properly, and it has never aligned correctly. I've built this 3 times, so i know what I'm doing. They definitely changed the production of this sofa. Avoid.2
Quality has dropped significantlyHayleyWe had a previous model of this couch for over 10 years. We ordered this one and within less than a month, the chaise is sinking and the cushions are losing shape. 10 years ago it was $750 all in and now it's almost $1500 after tax. It is absolutely not worth the money. We will be returning ours as soon as we find something to replace it with. 2
It is pulling apart sinceFawnIt is pulling apart since the boards are not real wood. Bolts or screws are actually pulling through the cheap would. Can not move around with out have more wiggling occur due to it pulling loose. The sliding part often slips out because the legs are bowed out so when you pull the extra part out it does not catch the hook.2
comfyLizetteEasy to assemble however matching the already drilled holes are sometimes an issue4
Pull out section is faultyAnonymous reviewerThe section that holds the pull out which converts it to a bed is faulty and constantly comes loose. This began happening 3 months after purchase and got to the point where it had to be manually put back in multiple times a day.1
