My wife and I bought a home on a beautiful lake just a short distance from our offices, removed the existing home, and needed an incredible design for this unique property. We decided to retain Darrell and Liz based on some of their previous work, as well as both of them were LEED certified (an organization and green building standard I helped start in the early ‘90’s). They quickly caught our vision and desires, and made many improvements by blending in their own expertise and experience. At each iteration of the design we became more and more excited about our future home and how it seamlessly integrated into the property promising wonderful views and an incredible indoor/outdoor living experience. Sadly our plans changed and we sold the property, but have purchased 10 acres in Washington state with an even more incredible view, and will be incorporating many of the design features into our retirement home. Darrell and Liz are highly recommended if you’re wanting to do something outside the ordinary, and want architects who are easy to work with.

I asked ETIN Design to completely re-do our home office and Bozhena Etin exceeded my (already high) expectations! She carefully listened to our functional needs, incorporated our aesthetic tastes, and designed an incredibly beautiful and elegant workspace. It is a joy to be in the office all day. I was impressed with her meticulous attention to detail, her professionalism, and her rapid response to our questions. If it were possible to award 6 stars, I would.

Nice guy and conscientious person doesn't begin to describe Chris. He is very dedicated, works unbelievably hard to make sure things get done. Chris made many recommendations on different ways I might consider the installations, he recognized what was important to me and came up with changes suchas a curbless shower entry and trim recommendations. I, unfortunately, ordered cabinets from Lowes (big mistake) but hired Chris for everything else. Lowes continually screwed up and I still am having conversations with them about completing repairs of damages they caused. However, Chris worked really hard to accomplish the rest of the project. Chris would come in behind each portion of the Lowes installation and finish the rest. What should have taken a month took four but Chris at each Lowes completion came in and did whatever portion he could immediately so I could get into my home. Chris came back after each of his various installers (floor, tile, granite, plumber and electrician) to insure their work was properly done and if there was something not quite right he would take care of it, even if that meant working into the evening. Committed, dedicated, creative, talented overall professional.

I could not be happier with the work done by Markus and his team. From up front transparency, constant communication and thorough check ins all along the way they nailed every aspect of this project. If I had a concern; they tackled it quickly and professionally. If a tough decision had to be made; they provided the options, costs and their recommendations. When the project was completed they walked through everything to make sure it met our expectations. Just an absolutely stellar job. Highly recommend.
Eric S. Perry Design & Build, Inc.
Home Remodelers in Raleigh
Average rating: 5 out of 5 starsJune 24, 2014
Eric Perry is working with us to design and build our modern home. He and his team have made the process enjoyable. His design suggestions have reduced cost significantly while maintaining the spirit of our vision. Eric has hired subcontractors that are professional and he has kept the process moving seamlessly. Eric's wife, Violet, also provides advice on design and color questions and is a valuable resource. We have worked with other builders in the past and none of our prior experiences have been as pleasant and productive.
Kyle Bobbitt LLC
Home Remodelers in Raleigh
Average rating: 5 out of 5 starsJanuary 30, 2023
Kyle helped us with a custom home build from conception, through the design service, implementing changes throughout the process, clear communication, all the way to our dream home. This was over a year long process and we couldn't be happier with the end results and working with Kyle. We feel like the fortunate ones to have found someone who genuinely loves his work and cares about his clients.
White Oak Custom Builders
Home Remodelers in Raleigh
Average rating: 5 out of 5 starsApril 27, 2014
White Oak Custom Builders (Justin Hartman) was the contractor for a very extensive remodeling project of my house in 2013. The scope of the remodeling involved window replacement (22 windows and 6 patio doors and all new interior doors), interior wall and flooring system replacement, three decks, a new roof structure (approximately 2400 sq. ft.) and all new interior trim for what became a three level house, originally built in 1950. While major remodeling is inherently stressful for almost any homeowner, Justin’s services as a contractor were invaluable, and I am extremely pleased with the final result. Specifically, I would give Justin top marks in the following areas: 1. Quality of work performed. The quality of work done was consistently top notch. Justin knowledgeable, skilled, and competent and is conscientious about following project specifications, and his work product rarely needs improvement or revision. 2. Project management and coordination. Justin’s prior experience working in construction really paid off. He was knowledgeable about all aspects of our project, and was able to plan, coordinate and manage the activities of different work crews effectively. He remained closely involved in overseeing the project from start to finish. His excellent attention to detail, strong organizational skills and commitment to follow-through are assets which enabled him to juggle the extensive details involved in our project without missing a beat. Justin’s familiarity with building codes also facilitated a smooth and hassle-free process when it came to building permits and inspection. 3. Integrity and professionalism. Throughout the project, I was impressed with Justin’s commitment to generating a top quality product, rather than maximizing his profit margin. When situations arose where extra work needed to be done (because of hidden problems that were not apparent until work on the house had commenced), Justin either (if it was relatively minor) took care of it, or (if it was more extensive) involved me in an informed decision making. 4. Effective communication. Justin kept me closely informed of work crew schedules, delivery dates, and projected completion dates of different phases of our project. His communication (whether by cell phone or email) was always clear, informative, and helpful. He was either available on his cell phone, or returned my phone call within 2-3 hours. We never had a single miscommunication throughout the project. 5. Flexibility and effectiveness in dealing with unexpected developments. When unforeseen problems surfaced (e.g., termite damage in a wall, structural problems with the existing floor and roof system), Justin worked diligently with me to identify a solution that was acceptable to me. He utilized resources effectively (e.g., recommending the services of a structural engineer in a limited fashion) and creatively to make changes necessary for implementing required solutions. 6. Sensitivity to worksite appearance and neighbor relations. Our project required huge dumpsters and a portable toilet (for the work crew), and there was very limited parking. Justin’s placement of the dumpster, portable toilet, and construction materials was based not solely on function and convenience, but showed a consideration for the aesthetics of the worksite. The work crew parked their vehicles in ways that were minimally disruptive to the neighborhood traffic, and their conduct never caused any discomfort to our neighbors. In the period of this project, there was not one single neighbor complaint! Instead, three different neighbors passed on compliments about the work. In closing, I am very pleased with the final product which Justin was instrumental in delivering, and I am extremely impressed with his work as a contractor. In a world where shoddy workmanship and poor service are unfortunately all too common, Justin is indeed a rare find. I would not hesitate to hire Justin again, or to recommend him to my friends and neighbors. I recommend White Oak Custom Builders to you most enthusiastically, and without any reservations.
