What's at the Foot of Your Bed?
On these cold, winter days, I sometimes find myself retiring to my bedroom a bit earlier in the evening. With hot chocolate and book in hand, I know Iâll find a comfy chair, a warm throw and a little footstool on which to prop my feetâ¦my own little oasis away from the hustle and bustle of the day.
As the pace of life seems to whirl faster and faster, it seems more important than ever to have a calming and well designed space in which to begin and end each day. Sure, we want it to be beautiful and aesthetically pleasing, but it has to function well, too. Right?
If you could incorporate more function into your bedroom, what would it be? Could you use more storageâ¦or, how about a place to rest your laptop or jot off that thank-you note to Aunt Mildred? What if space is an issue with no available walls for furniture placement and no extra closets anywhere in sight? No problem, you don't need to look any further than the end of your own cozy bed.

Make that space at the foot of your bed work for you! Add an elegant bench...it will give you the perfect spot to sit as you put on your shoes before heading out for the day.
A settee in a coordinating fabric will serve the same purpose, while adding another beautiful element of design.
If your bed will not support a a high-back sette, consider a simple upholstered bench. It will still provide additional seating and will be a great place to toss those clothes at the end of the day...not that you would ever do that, of course. ;-)
This idea works great in a guest room or child's room where you may have two single beds. Not only are they practical, they add tremendous style. Just for a moment imagine this room minus the two adorable striped seats at the foot of each bed. It just wouldn't look the same, would it?
Or...make that two trunks. This especially comes in handy if your bed is lacking a footboard and could use a little something to dress it up.
Love watching t.v. as you drift off to sleep but just don't have the room or wall space for an armoire or to mount that flat screen? The foot of the bed comes to the rescue once again. With just the press of a button your t.v. will gracefully rise up from the cabinet in which it's hidden. When you're all done, press the button and the t.v. becomes a nice cabinet, once again.
Have you been wishing you had a cozy spot on which to prop your feet and curl up with a good book? Didn't think you had the room? Take a look at the end of your bed. You may find all the room you need for a loveseat and a nice big ottoman just right for holding a stack of your favorite books along with a midnight snack.
Or, forget the loveseat and use just the ottoman. You'll gain additional seating and your guest will love having a great place on which to open their suitcase.
Oh, wait a minute, I almost forgot. We still need the perfect spot to write that thank-you note to Aunt Mildred. I know just the place for a lovely desk and chair, one thatâs perfect for penning a wonderful note or for holding your laptop as you stroll the halls of Houzz, finding inspiration and ideas for making your home absolutely fabulous.
