On numerous occasions I have given talks about hiking. I have spoken to church groups and Scout troops, retirement communities and middle school students. I have presented at libraries, fire halls, and colleges. Most often, I speak about my experiences on the Appalachian Trail. Other topics have included Grandma Gatewood, the history of the AT in Central Pennsylvania, and hiking experiences in our national parks. I have even been featured on a podcast that features all things AT.

One question I often get, and probably don’t spend enough time talking about, is the issue of hiking sticks, or trekking poles.
