Hello my amazing Flickr friends !!
Today is an orange day at Color my World Daily and the theme at Crazy Tuesdays is old and new. Of course we have Mr. Teddy bear with us to celebrate Happy Teddy Bear Tuesdays.
Mr. Teddy Bear has a dilemma: old or new ? What do you prefer ? New is exacting and cool and so new and so out of usual … New is the change and the challenge to adapt. But on the other hand: old is reassuring, it is what we are use to … Old is comfort and we know what to expect…
When Mr. Teddy Bear realized his old pencil was almost too old to continue to write his exciting adventures, he went pencil shopping… His old pencil was so awesome but those new guys were so shiny and new… Of course the new pencil will have to learn everything from the old one… so there is no question about throwing away the old pencil (this is the hoarder inside of me speaking ;-) !) But the choice was so difficult… New pencils looked so similar… with no distinctive signs, no character and no experience…. The old pencil was very stubborn and had an opinion on everything… but he had also the best stories to tell… the new guys were very « blah » in the eyes of Mr. Teddy Bear…
Eventually Mr. Teddy Bear will choose one new pencil… and he will try to get use to it and to make it his personal pencil… Until it becomes as awesome as his old pencil… And not so new anymore…
So are team NEW or team OLD ?

Yeah, it caught my eyes when I strolling in btw these two medical buildings near me (my 3 doctors practice there), where is about 5 minutes away. During the lockdown, I go there a lot, not only hardly a soul seen there, but also with at least 30 flowering trees in bloom now, like I found my peaceful place to photography, and even take a walk. :-))

One of the three sides of New Square in Cambridge, which is a pleasant green space with these nice old terraces round it. I believe it is owned by Jesus College, I used to live in number 31 which is behind the camera here.

The Oculus in New York City is well-photographed (for good reason). It's very cool to see in person. I like how it has a vanishing point feel.

2020 ... wthat a year! Some of us have really struggled with the upheaval and challenges. Others have found growth, through being forced out of comfort zones and discovered new, more meaningful aspects of life. Yet more of us have probably had a mix of the two, with some doses of fear and anxiety thrown in. One thing is for sure - life looks a lot different today, than it did a year ago and we have learned new ways of living it.
No matter how hard the past is, you can always begin again ...
The future is your story to write.

Happy New Year everyone. It's been pretty wet and windy on Dartmoor over the last few days. But I managed to get out for a walk and grabbed this image hand held, crouched low in an effort to shield the camera from the worst of the wind (just too windy for the tripod and I needed a faster shutter speed anyway to freeze the windswept tree branches).
As always, I've taken a lot of inspiration from the many wonderful images posted here on Flickr this year. It's my pleasure and privilege to follow all of you and share our collective experiences. The fact that the numbers are low is one of the things I like about Flickr. It feels like a genuine community bringing like minded people together over real human interactions, sometimes spanning many years. I'll take one thoughtful comment on Flickr over any number of random 'likes' on Instagram - not that I have an Instagram account!
So thanks to everyone for sharing your images and your kind comments and encouragement over the course of the year. It means a lot to me and I'm looking forward to what the new year brings. Keep safe. Keep well. Keep photographing.

Whilst there are thousands of ponies and cattle in the New Forest there are only a few hundred donkeys. They are extremely hardy and can survive on the Forest all year round, browsing, like this one, on trees and bushes in preference to grass.
Unfortunately increased tourist activity in the New Forest this year due to the pandemic is driving a lot more animals including deer onto the roads. Respect for their habitat and well being must be paramount.
