Join the Florida Health Care Association and the Florida Assisted Living Association on Wednesday, November 20, from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. EST for a collaborative two-hour virtual, live seminar on the latest trending topics affecting assisted living facilities (ALFs). Explore on a deeper level, some of the most common cited deficiencies in the areas of service plans, adverse incidents, assistive devices, and physical restraints and learn best practices to avoid enforcement actions. Presenters will also provide a forecast for the 2025 legislative session and discuss recent rule changes affecting the ALF profession. The session concludes with a robust Q&A, giving attendees the chance to receive actionable insights on their toughest regulatory questions.

2025 Legislative Forecast: What to Expect
Susan Anderson, Director of Regulatory Affairs

This session will provide attendees with the inside scoop of what the Florida Legislature is considering in the 2025 legislative session, including an update on legislative leadership. Possible topics impacting assisted living providers will also be discussed.
Anderson concentrates on supporting the legislative, regulatory, and policy activities on behalf of association members for nursing centers and assisted living facilities. She has experience in senior housing and in developing public policy positions and advising on regulatory compliance. Anderson is an active member of the Florida Bar.

Recent Rule Changes for DNRO

This session will discuss rule challenges affecting assisted living providers in relation to Do Not Rescuscitate Orders and best practices.
Broom has been a Registered Nurse for 37 years with 24 years in long term care as a Director of Nursing, Regional Nurse Consultant, and other roles. She is a risk manager and, for six years, was the administrator of a 68-bed assisted living center with an Extended Congregate Care license. She came to FHCA in May of 2017 and is the liaison to Senior Clinicians Council, Risk Compliance Council, Infection Prevention Council, and the Florida Center for Assisted Living (FCAL) Committee.

Granger's experiences in health care regulations span over 45 years from the Department of Health and Rehabilitative Services, the Agency for Health Care Administration, and the Florida Assisted Living Association. She is very knowledgeable in the regulations and laws pertaining to assisted living facilities and adult family care homes. Granger retired from State Government in 2009 after serving the State of Florida in state government for 35 years.
