FDIC OIG Flexible Work Options

The following options may be available, as specified in the vacancy announcement, and subject to management approval based on mission, staffing, and workload requirements:

OIG Telework Program

All OIG employees are eligible to request participation in the Telework program.

  • OIG employees may regularly work from home up to three days per week.
  • The OIG employee’s official duty station must be an FDIC office or field location (or other approved telework site).
  • Locality pay will be based on the location of the official duty station, not the employee’s home address.
  • Travel expenses and time spent in traveling between the employee’s home and official duty station will not be reimbursed or compensated.
  • Core hours are 9:30 a.m – 2:30 p.m.

FDIC OIG Work Schedules

The FDIC OIG permits a variety of work schedule options.  These include expanded starting and stopping time bands, pre-selection of a variable daily start time, pre-selection of a 30-, 45-, or 60- minute lunch period, a compressed work schedule, and a flexible work schedule (with credit hours).

Holidays and Leave

In addition to vacation time, employees enjoy 11 paid federal holidays each year.

Annual Leave - Eligible employees accrue annual leave based on years of Federal service. An employee may use annual leave for vacations, rest and relaxation, and personal business or emergencies. 4 hours per pay period for less than 3 years of service, 6 hours per pay period for 3 years to 15 years of service, and 8 hours per pay period for 15 or more years of service. Corporate Grade (CG) employees can carry over up to 240 hour of leave from year to year. Corporate Managers (CM) can carry over up to 360 hours of annual leave from year to year. Executive Managers (EM) earn 8 hours of annual leave upon appointment, regardless of their amount of Federal service and can carry over up to 720 hours of annual leave from year to year.

Sick Leave - Eligible employees earn 4 hours of sick leave per pay period.  Typically, there are 26 pay periods in a year; therefore, employees accrue 13 days a year.

Paid Parental Leave - The FDIC OIG provides up to 12 weeks of paid leave following the birth of a child, or the adoption or foster care placement of a child.
